    BRUCE

Sorry, my email is full as well Have made some space in my messages box, but I'm having a few gremlins on the email side of things. can also mail me on bruce.diesel at gmail.com
  3. This is why it is important to ensure that you consume enough carbohydrate - so that you minimise this effect. Using muscle as a fuel source is your body's last resort after glycogen and fat. Our muscle fiber composition is largely genetic, which predisposes us to certain types of exercise. A body builder is pre-disposed, i.e. he already has a high percentage of fast twitch. An endurance athlete has a large percentage slow-twitch genetically. There are three types of fibres Type I, Type IIa, and Type IIb (they have re-classified these but I can't recall the new classifications). Depending on the type of exercise, Type IIa's can exhibit the behaviour of fast twitch or slow twitch, i.e. they adapt. But overall, muscle composition is what we are born with.
  4. It has a mini pebble bed reactor in it - for those really hard climbs!
  5. Sounds like the hub torque was fine. Check it out over the next few rides.
  6. That was his bad weekend, lucky for me otherwise I would have had no chance
  7. My training ride this morning was 2h30 @ 289watts (NP) so the race was only a little bit harder.
  8. RABUBI - how accurate is your FTP? Spidy, we were loafing - D2D my Normalised Power was 319watts, this race only 293watts - much harder race.
  9. No, the SRM is the only unit that you can manually set the slope and offset - but generally that should not be tried at home.
  10. Powertap Stomp Test http://www.midweekclub.ca/powerFAQ.htm#Q23 But I'm sure Adrian will check it out for you!
  11. I see that the pricing for the new Quarq PM has been put on their website. $1195 for the PM $995 for the head unit. They are priced separately because the PM will be compatible with the Garmin. www.quarq.us bruce2007-09-25 05:49:59
  12. The Solar option is also a good idea. One of the drawbacks of the SRM is the battery replacement process - the unit has to be sent in to the agents to change batteries, so you can be without your PM for a short while.
  13. I'm wondering why the PowerTap hasn't been announced yet as being compatible with the Garmin 705? It is already using the wireless ANT+ protocol, but I believe the message format needs to be standardised. A little bird told me a few months back that there would be three PM's that would be compatible with the Garmin - definitely Quarq and SRM, and one would assume Powertap.
