Buy your meat from a butcher, not the supermarkets. It's all flashily dressed up, but you are supporting the farmers by buying from a butcher. You'll get specials from the supermarkets, but the butchers are cheaper as a rule. Shortrib stew is my family's favourite, and I love making a stew with it, and it's as cheap as, well not chips, seeing the price of 'taties lately, but cheap.

We did a very muddy Stutt High School MTB yesterday, with a sh$tload of climbing, 2240m climbing in 60km, even the 45km race had 1300m of climbing, what you get having a non-cyclist setting up the course, but it was lekker, some interesting new tracks The first long hill, luckily on gravel to get your legs used to the ups A view of Gubu dam and Rance Timber sawmill (one of the sponsors) and the track

I've not tried it yet. We haven't had thunderstorms since I saw the post. I'll definitely see how it works on my old sheepdog. She hates loud noises. Even hides away when the chickens crow after laying eggs.

Another ride on the singlespeed, early morning, I saw so much game at the Tyityaba GR, Zebra, Nyala, Kudu, Eland, Blesbok, Impala, pigs(pied domestic type ) monkeys.... Another ride over to the Transkei, with some of our farmer riding group, and Dogfish Crossing the Gxara river The gates on the Xolorha river, a deep canyon through an old horseshoe bend and yet another ride with some racing snakes, I usually budget on riding 10kmph in the Transkei, but this ride was closer to 12kmph, with some extensive bhundu bashing, and a beer at the Seagulls hotel I was sweating here Overlooking the bay at Seagulls/Trenneries

That was a great break at Kei Mouth, met a few other cyclists, and a hubber, I can't remember all the rides, and tried to take pics on all of them, but.... The queue of cars just about 1/2hr before it started operating again

A book by Dr Burton, on some historical stories in the Border region, called Sparks From the Border Anvil, that I found about 6 months ago. It's very disjointed, and I put the book down about 3/4 of the way through, but the first story about the Gcaleka Xhosa's cattle killing in the 1850's was very interesting, especially as I was riding past Nongqause's pool , and the site of Mhlakaza's kraal on the Gxara river every other day.

For an early morning ride down the valley. The roads have just been graded, and all the loose pebbles and soil destroyed my legs on the return(uphill) trip. One of the joys of living at the top of a mountain ????

Ruan has been building the trails, and there's not that much, about 5km's max Here's a strava map of the last Hagmorkei, they used the trails that are the bit around Morgs https://www.strava.com/activities/386007295 PLEASE don't ride the bit other side the tar, the top section towards the Kei River, through the farm Rocky Ridge, that's not open to the public, and you may jeopardise our access if you ride it.

60 to 80 rondts for a ride, bit of a rip off I'd say, unless you need the medal or t-shirt. We'll be riding that ride too, but no charge except money for the pont, and for beer at Seagulls, and the Fisherman's Den after I think the MB hotel is starting to rip the ring out a bit, unless they are adding value to the ride.
