  1. Last week I did a quick 38km on the SS, and took this pic of the Henderson Valley, doesn't do the view justice Then on Sunday, the hottest day of the spring, the trail Boss of the Thomas River MTB phoned me at 9 to come and recce the 45km trail with him. We started at 10, and rode through the heat of the day, he's got some amazing trails lined up, I don't know if they'll be all ready for this years race (31 Oct, BTW). The Drift where , in 1801 Thomas Bentley was shot with a poisoned Bushman arrow giving his name to both the river and the area! A view from the ride Death Valley, if it's hot The waterpoint on the highest point of the race will be here
  2. Sorry Josh, I know nothing about the Nxabara. I've only crossed it while racing bikes. Beautiful estuary, from pics I took. It's one of the big rivers of the Transkei, so better fished from a boat. You'll probably get snapper, Springer and Leeries. And grunter on the flats.Beyond that I won't be able to help.
  3. It'll have 10 gears for Kwelerha2Kei, if I do it. Better half's birthday day before[emoji12]
  4. It's on, I've just shared the route to the Funtrax Facebook page
  5. Awesome day for a ride yesterday. We were riding around Thomas River, mapping out the 20km Trail Run for the end of October. Then did a bit extra as my mates are doing Berg and Bush so needed to put km in the legs. There's no flat rides around here and I was testing my legs on the SS, so took no ride pics, as my tongue was hanging on the ground when I stopped. 900m climbing in 40km.... so here's a pic of the steel dikwiel
  6. It's a brilliant ride, if you can get an entry.
  7. Donkeys don't like dogs, we use them to protect our sheep from marauding dogs and Jackal, they also do the job against Lynx(rooikat). Sooo I can imagine that the donk took exception to Ghost being in her space
  8. I rode a hard early ride on Saturday (so no pics) so that I could do the Colour My Run in Slummies with the family. What fun it was.
  9. Pikey I would have loved to take her too, I'm sure she would have had a ball on my farm with all our other slightly mad pets, and Max. Barry good on you buddy. You are going to have a dog sanctuary there one day!!! (Visions of the male , doggie version of the mad cat lady)
  10. Until the wind starts, summer south easters, ouch.
  11. Found this pic from 2 years ago, Fudgie was a cute puppy. Lunatic active dog now though edit, and I can't believe how much that little girl has grown up in the last 2 years
  12. Beautiful place. The hotel was empty this weekend though. I was surprised that they were open.
  13. That green is the lawn, but the veld is greening up nicely. There's been a fair bit of rain this winter here
  14. The mouth of the Kobonqaba Wavecrest Hotel The view, all I wanted was a cup of coffee. I was offered instant, but asked for filter, which they kindly made for me, then charged me nothing. Finally on the beach after crossing the Kobonqaba river at low tide, waist deep, and almost getting caught in quicksand, a very real danger on the bigger Transkei rivers, along with Zambezi's
  15. Edit oops double post. Damn you tapatalk
  16. I went for an exploring ride on Saturday, using paper maps and with some referance to google earth, to find a ridable route between Kei Mouth and Wavecrest Hotel. The huge obstacle is the Kobonqaba river, which is often deep over the rainy season. Waiting for the ferry, youhave to wait for acar to come, they won't cross for a cyclist Coral Trees flowering is a sure sign of spring Kobonqaba valley flood plains The crossing point in the valley Cliffs above the river Another view of the crossing, from the other side
  17. I've just recieved the family heirloom meccano. My 9yo is enjoying it. Just worked out that it must be close to 100 yrs old
  18. Probably ja, short ass looking up at a giant
  19. I admit it, I was bored and had a marker in my pocket
  20. Oh no, that's not so lekker, but dogs are incredibly adaptable animals, and soon you won't notice that the leg's missing.
  21. Watching "Pace Like Fire" after the end of the Eng/Aus day. About the Windies quicks. All I can say is no, no, no, Curtley https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1_9Rtbf4jFo
  22. Absolutely, spent R300 on a case of 12 beers, but thats one every now and again, way too pricy to pig out on. I'm 100km from the closest craft beer supply, judicious purchase. [emoji16] [emoji41]
  23. All the more for me ???????? In all honesty, I can't drink it all the time, a bottle every now and again is my style.
  24. Castle Milk Stout Chocolate is here to stay Good http://www.sabstories.co.za/beer-culture/chocolate-milk-stout/?age-verified=64e57aab1d
  25. Sorry to see this Barry, hope he's better. What goes around comes around, karma will get them. Don't know where to put this, here I guess. The first calf of the season was born yesterday, so the family and I went to check on the little chap, so he got lots of pics taken of him. edit, thats mother in the background, patiently waiting
