  1. Well - plenty of athletes have tried the defence "it was inintentional, it was in my supplements..." only rugby players get away with that..... I am still waiting for Daryl's pharmacist to have a professional review done....
  2. If you don't have one, you don't ride ENOUGH.....
  3. You don't work in public health do you amazing amounts of things are not reported... or badly reported, or not even known about.... and often not even treated... or partially treated, or treatment is so significantly delayed that there is no practical possibility of cure... resources are limited, and we don't work in a first world, 35hour a week country - something has to give, and reporting is (sad to say) often one of the many things that is just not done correctly.
  4. Not quite so simple - but it is one of the few I have seen that has allowable levels (which are insanely high for clinical use, and far above the reccomended daily dosages) One has to be somewhat careful to make sure you use all possible names of all constituents of the medication being checked - sometimes trade names work, sometimes they don't - so it's a case of being VERY careful about what you take - and there is also the complication that some homeopathic/unscheduled "meds" are not very well documented in their actual constituents, so very hard to be 100% sure on what is actually in them - supplements especially have this issue - only the manufacturer (maybe) knows EXACTLY what went into it - the labelling is often very marginal.
  5. Venteze/Salbutabol has a maximum dosage that you can exceed and be guilty of an offense (I have not looked at the syrup contents at all)
  6. I suspect that this has a significant under reporting error in SA unfortunately - and often it is confused by the location of a variety of mets - so for instance if Lance were to pass from cancer in SA, he would likely have been diagnosed with brain cancer post mortem - if a PM was even done at all. Certainly (in line with worldwide numbers) it is more prevalent in higher income groups - and to me that shows a likely under diagnosis in lower income groups (I might be wrong, maybe expensive food is a cause of TC....)
  7. I am pretty sure it was his doc's 5th case in 4 years.... but TC's incidence is a lot lower than prostate cancer for instance
  8. Self check - smart move Rush to doc when finding lump - smart move Saddle sore and not a lump.... better than the alternative, but not good.
  9. Depends what kind of doping.... Electric motor doping - I would say none... EPO - probably not much risk Stimulant usage - I havn't seen any studies on this, but... Steroid abuse - the risks are high - especially when not using clincally approved dosing and veterinary products - and there are many other side effects that are not desirable too - not something I would personally consider just for the health risks, let alone the ethical/moral considerations.
  10. Are you sure? I have not seen anything conclusive in the medical literature I read - there appears as if there may be a more likely link with prostate issues, and that is also not a perfect piece of science yet. As a cyclist, you should be aware of the symptoms of both testicular cancer and prostate issues (not only prostate cancer) and especially include regular self tests for testiclular lumps, and have regular prostate exams - (blood test and manual) - in fact ALL men should do this - especially those in the high risk age groups - and most importantly - if you suspect an an anomaly or have urinary flow changes, then GET EXAMINED - asap. Early detection is the best medicine... the earlier the better....
  11. Did a little ride from van Gaalens to Breedts neck and back - dirt roadie stuff - mostly - hot as hell
  12. I have a spray gun - anything can be made to match....
  13. No prob at all but it's only 1...
  14. Lezyne side entry cages? never tried them but they look like they might work - the Spaz cages definately work - I have one loose you can try Dom.
  15. You don't have long arms.... you have F....ing long arms.... #just saying
  16. Well - learning not to fan the flames would also be a good idea....
  17. OK - that eliminates that then,..,, back to Spez...
  18. They look really nice in the flesh too... just need to add some Raleigh stickers...
  19. It's Italian underneath I am led to believe.... got Deddecai logos too - might be anything - still a great bike when it's not covered in dust.
  20. I doubt it - I suspect he has done more for cycling in SA over the years than just about anyone else.... especially when MTB's were unknown worldwide.
  21. Gently mate.... i own and ride a Raleigh.... great bike....
  22. I think Kevin needs to put together a calm and reasoned statement on why he has not contested the finding - an HONEST one, and if things have not been above board anywhere, then appropriate reparations made, apologies issued etc All this yelling and name calling on public media does not do the sport any good (Jules - are you listening? ) and the long term prospects for sponsorship get worse every day for athletes (especially for younger guys) the longer this carries on - no corporate wants to be associated with, or take the risk of being duped by a doper, and then have their name dragged through the mud publically. Someone needs to hold free PR classes for pro athletes...
  23. He is a sales, finance and accounting guy - not a physiologist - and he does not claim to be naive about doping (I just think he used to be and his good name has been besmirched by a bunch of cheats)
  24. No doubt he is... I would also be apoplectic. Fortunately I don't do twitter - think is a good medium for missing a few points...
  25. Oldcoot is actually a hell of a good guy and a personal mate of mine - possibly was a bit naive about doping (not any more), but exceptionally loyal to his athletes who committed to being clean (and if they were not clean then they definately lied to him) - I have no doubt he will do what he needs to do to move this forward appropriately - he IS one of the good guys.
