  1. I currently have a 10spd XT cassette on my wheel, I want to set up a second wheel just to use on my trainer; can I use a Shimano HG62 cassette without any complications, or would the difference cause dodgy chain wear?
  2. That third question is ass. I come here for both life doesnt always have to only have one focus.
  3. I also used to worry about that, but watching that strength testing video, and talking to people who have ridden carbon MTB's for 6 years, I think the top players have got it sorted.
  4. :-) it makes all the difference
  5. Thanks, that sounds pretty much like what I was thinking. I have already bought a new wheelset, so that is done. I have full XT everywhere, so Im happy with that. I guess I just love the way the Santa looks.
  6. So for some reason I have taken a fancy to the idea of going carbon, and Im really not sure if I should spend the money. I have been riding for about 4 months now, Im still very much at the 15k/h ave mark; so no expert. I ride with tools and a Camelbak, so I dont think 900g would make a difference in terms of weight. Is that a fair assumption? And outside of weight is there any point in spending >R20 000 on a new frame when I have a perfectly good aluminium frame; is bump absorption and handling etc really that much better? Will it make riding more enjoyable?
  7. Who were the folks taking pics?
  8. My partner has decided he isnt ready - nooit
  9. I almost did the same, but Im glad I went out there in the end. Yea, slight downs did feel like ups, the wind was pumping. I couldnt get a 35/40 ave anywhere
  10. Looked to me like it was just a case of finding himself too far down in that first lap; to ride up to and within 30sec of the worlds best takes some doing. Pity he didn't win, but he still showed he is up there. Good on ya Burry.
  11. Ya, looks like he's gone
  12. Come on Burry!!!!! These okes are going so fast, one slip and their race is over.
  13. Most hubbers but from easygis.co.za They usually have the best price, are local, and reliable fast delivery!
  14. It's a chilly morning out here.
  15. Can anybody confirm a 9:00am start, and do all distances start together?
  16. Hot like us?
  17. I'm sure it will get on you tube within a couple of hours.
  18. Ah-ha... More Fourways people.
  19. Got these but chose VR28 lenses.
  20. Good question. I waited for this year to do it, and did it through my medical aid. They submitted the claim etc, and I just paid in like R300. They give a great deal if you buy the frame and lenses there, I think it all came in at R4k or so - maybe less.
  21. Oh ya, I had prescription Oakleys made for me. Lenses were done in Ireland through Designer Optical at Fourways crossing; they also do Adidas etc
  22. Hey, welcome to the most awesome thing you can do with your clothes on. My experience taught me this: Got short gloves, but really... Now I only ride with long ones. Started with baggies, went to cycling pant, and finally a bib - save money and head straight there if you plan to ride regularly. Rigid shoes have been much better for me. The only time I will ride without my Garmin 500 is when I upgrade to the 800. It's encouraging to see improvement and routes etc. Until somebody comes up with a better sealed, mud clearing pedal with as much float as the current Time ones, they are the only ones I will use. Enjoy
  23. Yea, sadly the only solution I have found for the sore bum is a decent saddle and TITS.... That doesnt sound that bad actually.
  24. With the bold SA shirt
