  1. I find that that's the case with most of the nutritional studies over the web: The lack of control over macro-nutrient breakdown, and the reliance on epidemiological studies which just have a high-level view of what people record themselves eating etc, and not controlling for other lifestyle choices. Even most of the meta-analyses out there rely on the same epidemiological studies to reach a conclusion, and are therefore not controlled, either.
  2. Just the cost of the bits themselves would have been huge (they don't last)
  3. Hmmmm... lemme confirm, quickly. And... No, it doesn't. Still the same benefit, according to the paperwork. https://www.discovery.co.za/discovery_coza/web/linked_content/pdfs/vitality/vitality_news/purple_gym_benefit_guide.pdf Vitality Purple members can continue using Gym Booster, but this only applies to Club/local memberships and not Virgin Active Premier or Collection Club, or Planet Fitness Platinum and National gyms. Updated Nov 2018
  4. Doesn't apply to premier memberships. It has been a point of contention for me since it came out.
  5. What you need is a diamond-tipped ceramic drill bit, a lot of patience and some water to cool the drill bit as it bites into the tile. You can get the bits from any hardware store.
  6. Taal monument, Paarl-side. Starts just below the gate, along the fence, over the "playground" (open field) and then over the road, left on the other side and down.
  7. Meh. I like the idea of it, but my knee (2 meniscus tears and multiple ligament damage) doesn't.
  8. He's moving to London. Apparently the aubergine care package scene is pretty big there...
  9. yeah. Or, don't eat breakfast at all. Intermittent fasting for the win. Helps control insulin levels, glucose etc and then eat between 3 & 7 or so. Takes a bit of getting used to, but once you're used to it you have just as much energy as before. Especially if you've got spare fat reserves....
  10. LOL. Nope. all mine. Can't blame her for that.
  11. Very nice, simple and effective. Plus, it can be repurposed later. Would make a lekker sideboard or kitchen island.
  12. I know a thing or six. Kitchen was my happy place while married.
  13. 2 ways. Roasted or griddled. Roasted turns out soft and mushy, and is great for mash / cheese sub once you scoop out the flesh from the outer casing. Add any spices to it that you want. Griddled - cut lengthways, in about 5mm strips (no larger) and then lightly coated with olive oil, salt & pepper, then either on the braai or on a griddle pan until it's done. EDIT: Another way I just remembered. Cubed, tossed in olive oil and then lightly fried. Add to a bolognaise / stew to thicken it up, or at the end of a cook to add a crispy component.
  14. One of my favourite cars of all time.
