what about getting sheets of ply, with the finish that you prefer, and getting Builders / Buco / whatever to rip em to 100mm widths? Far less hassle than ripping apart pallets and you get the added benefit of not having to plane all the wood straight. Can get oak, normal pine, beech, sapele, redwood, etc. Even at 4mm it's strong stuff, and will more than stand up to a picture frame. If you want even more strength, back it with full sheets of normal 12mm shutterply and then attach the strips to that.

But that's just it. They are. Descent is just an accident of location. That's why labels (in my opinion) are idiotic. Yes, by all means be true to who you are and recognise your past. But also don't let that be a descriptor of who you are. But yes. This is a topic for another thread, and one I'm quite happy to continue and entertain other viewpoints with.

Doesn't matter where the parents were born. They've been born, raised, schooled and sported in France. That makes them very French, regardless of descent.

Cos they're mostly from families who immigrated to France a generation ago. I think only 2 of the squad were born outside of France. IE: France IS their country. Sixteen of the 23 players on the team come from families that recently immigrated to France from places like Zaire, Cameroon, Morocco, Angola, Congo or Algeria. Forward Antoine Griezmann, the team’s leading scorer, is half-German and half-Portuguese. Defender Samuel Umtiti, who scored the goal that sent France to the final, was born in Cameroon.
