Those, my uncultured friend, are original vw/porsche rims that were specced on the karmann ghia, vw bus, porky 911 and so on. If they are indeed aftermarket rims, they are VERY good reproductions of the originals.

Definitely higher, in that shape. Naked shells in reasonable condition are now going for 80k plus in the splittie variant. That's JUST the shell. And those old a/c 1600's etc are bulletproof. Just make sure your oil cooling circuits are up to scratch as well - that was their achilles heel.

Always, ALWAYS use primer. Also - was the surface sanded prior to application?

Looks like surface prep issues to me, and maybe too much lacquer and not enough curing time / curing temp too low.
