  1. R 1,700 p/m for med aid w day to day coverage (Medical savings of ~ R 5k per year for doc visits, x rays etc) or R 1,200 p/m for basic hospital coverage that only kicks in when you're admitted. R 150-R 300 p/m for Gap Cover depending on which option you go for and how much coverage you get. I'm assuming you're not going to get a Late Joiner Penalty, which (if you're over 35) could compound matters. That's for Discovery. PM me your mail address and we can discuss this more if you want...
  2. even if you go to a government hospital, full coverage is not guaranteed. Physio, follow up appointments, rehab, some private docs operating in the public space (in rare occasions) etc. PM me if you want a bit of help. Also - Gap Cover is a non negotiable. Covers the gap between what specialists charge and what the med aid covers. With MTB & cycling in general, I'd recommend something with an element of day to day cover. Why? Well, generally speaking - if you ONLY have a hospital plan (med aid without Annual Savings) you don't have cover for investigative MRI & CT scans. There are exceptions (Momentum for one) but I wouldn't chance it. Cover only starts when you get booked in. And please, please - whatever you do - don't go for one of those hospital cash-back plans from the likes of Clientele Life and so on. They pay you a fixed rand amount per day in hospital, based on the condition you are admitted for. Looks good on the cover, cos they say "Up to R 5,000 per day" or whatever. But what they don't tell you is that every day the amount goes down, and after day 4 you're only getting about R 1,000 to R 2,000 per day - which will nowhere near cover the cost of hospitalisation. That's barely enough to cover the ward costs, let alone any blood, theatre time, bandages etc....
  3. Brilliant... Now only if they'd come down in price!!
  4. It's gone back to the original format. I likey.
  5. HAHAHAHA! Obligatory traffic sign & cone... Love it. I have 2 of those orange blinky lights at home. Back on topic - that's pretty much what I'm looking at, but with the ladder at the foot of the bed and a chain makinng it "hang" instead of the one leg in the corner. Raw bolt it to the walls, offset it slightly from the one wall (double plank it) so that it clears the curtains, and hey presto.
  6. Good luck! For what it's worth, a SWIFT transaction happens relatively quickly... certainly should have it by Tuesday...
  7. 1 word and some numbers. Sennheiser HD212 PRO
  8. I was about to send a mail to my compatriots, containing quite a few expletives...
  9. Really digging Mr Robot. It's still giving surprises, but the latest episode seemed a bit disjointed. Almost as if they were setting up for the next one.
  10. yep. We have mini-ladders so that's going to be fine. Also going to be a desk / play area underneath, and maybe some monkey bars on the underside of the bed
  11. yeah. As I hit Post I saw "rope" and thought that would be superb. Climbing and descending....
  12. Definitely going to do a ladder. And you raise a very valid point re the wee! He's just coming off nappies at night, but he has the metabolism of an i don't know what and finds ways to get more fluid into him... Some nights no nappy, some nights with nappy. A ladder is critical.
  13. gonna be building my lightie one of these in the next couple of weeks... With a climbing wall as an alternative to get up there. It's a hanging loft bed. Going to be anchored into the walls with rawl bolts (2 walls) and then have a chain going to a roof truss for the hanging corner. EDIT: Also going to put a ladder in one corner, and give him a railing so he doesn't fall off... he has some weird sleeping positions!
