  1. If you're looking on info for the wide lightnings, pm Crow. He has them on his Vipa
  2. So my baby sitter (godmother) just called and said she's decided to stay in the cedarberg for a bit longer. And my OH is off on squash squad training (WP squash team) for the morning. So I'm out. Pleeeease swing a few spades / hoes / picks in anger on my behalf, and smash the CBC. Gutted.
  3. Someone has to whip these guys into shape...
  4. I see CRC don't have them. Maybe try CWC - they deal extensively with Mavic, or at least used to.
  5. should be able to get those from CRC or other web-based retailers...
  6. 100%. If you've got that car, you've got enough moolah to get proper reproduction wheels made for you. I don't care if they are OEM+ (they may be early AMG rims) they look like *** on that car.
  7. LOL. Ja, you're right, but - and this is a big BUT - I've ridden some fairly technical jeep track ascents / descents!
  8. oh - and if you're replacing 3 spokes on the same wheel, chances are it needs a full rebuild as well.
  9. And what is the Only 29er you'd buy? BTW _ spokes can be bought online and through most LBS avenues here in SA. As long as you know the length and type you want...
  10. It's highly subjective, that. There are also so many aspects to technicality. It can be an abundance of switchbacks, off camber corners, jumps, dropoffs, rock gardens, loose shale, rooted sections, sandy trail, northshore and so on and so forth. To say a trail is "technical" is a difficult thing to do, as "technically" (lol) anything above straight, flat singletrack qualifies as technical in somebody's mind.
  11. I'm about to change my mind on which one to get. And it's the YT. If you honestly believe that the morewood is a bit too long and a bit too slack, then go with what your head / heart is telling you and get the YT. You'll be starting off in a better place, psychologically, as you'll always be thinking "what if it's too long" and "I won't be able to handle it as well" if you buy the Morewood. So - my suggestion is now to go for the YT. It's a kick-ass bike. And, as Duane says - it'll be the only one in the country.
  12. Hmmm. You're right. Forgot about the need for a DH bike for the 2nd bit - what are the timelines for a YT to be delivered? As for the wheelbase - yes and no. It'll definitely help the stability on the technical stuff, and get you more confident when going faster. The only place it may slow you down is on the tight twisties. And even then not so much. The mak 275 has a chainstays are just 3mm longer, believe it or not. And yes, the head angle is slacker - but that's VERY good for stability. IMO it'll be better... Especially given where you're going to be riding. If you want to change the head angle / wheelbase just a bit, you can drop the Boxxer / 40 / whatever a bit lower into the stanchions...
  13. MOREWOOOOOOD!!!! And NO!!! Even if you don't have a DH bike by then - take your Intense!!!
  14. Very good looking frame - I love the engineering in that. And the RAWness...
  15. You still a happy homo, rolling with the Black Prince? Lol. Dude. Evidently faaaaar too much coffee for you...
  16. Why make things so difficult? Remove parts, sand, clean with sugar soap, spray with a metal primer and then a good quality spray can application of your favourite gloss black paint in a can. Yes, you'll be without your RD for a couple of days while the paint hardens, but it'll be far cheaper and you're guaranteed to have success ito fitment and placement.
