  1. Cool. The main fear was that there's just another standard... meh. But I'm sure that with proper design, they could have gotten around the Q factor problem whilst retaining the 150mm standard... More hydroforming, yeah, but to open up the stays by an extra 1mm, while keeping the junction the same? Seems a bit of a fudge tbh. As for the increase in stiffness - no doubt there. There's a larger base from which to mount the spokes, so the lateral stiffness would be increased dramatically by those extra 3mm per side.
  2. And yet why not just go 150mm and have all that compatability from the DH wheeled side of things.
  3. I see those, and raise you a... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/41/Hybrid_handlebar.JPG
  4. And the answer to that is... the way the vote has been manipulated through false accounts. That's fraud, plain and simple.
  5. I WANNA TRY IT!!! LOVE this new tech. And yes, Cap - I know I said that I was "meh" when it came to improvements in shock over and above my existing one, but you're right. If I had the cash....
  6. Blackspire Mono Veloce Narrow Wide. Recognised the text on the name... Used to have a blackspire ring myself. Thanks Google!
  7. Looks like they've just got reach adjust, so I'd go with equivalent of Elixir 7 and then SLX.
  8. Sounds like the pistons aren't retracting completely into the caliper when you release the brakes. Has it been like that all the time? Easiest way to reset them is to get a wide implement (NOT a screwdriver) and gently coerce the pistons back into their primary positions. If you have a pad spreader (that little red jobbie that fits int eh caliper when you take the wheel off) then use that. If not, a strong knife / thin chisel will work as well. Take out the pads, and then clean the calipers PROPERLY in some spirits / degreaser to remove any gumpf from around the pistons, and rinse off with water Then put the pads back in place and the wheel as well. Check the brakes and see if they work properly, and if the pistons retract into position. If not, you probably have some air in the system or too much fluid in there, so give them a good bleed. The rotor should sit smack bang in the centre of the caliper.
  9. BTW - thanks for the heads up. Was going to go this weekend if the flu / cold / whatever cleared up.
  10. I have to ask, Tim - was there a face-brake technique deployment? ;-)
  11. I agree here. Should be a condition of the competition that the pics need to have been take in the month that they were submitted.
  12. Little one had a head cold that was passed to us last week, he now has a bit of bronchitis that I'm treating him for. Again, this will be passed to us as well. These next few weeks will be trying, cos he's also in creche... and we all know what virus-pits those are!!
  13. Was never about that. Was about the Forum Members' favourite pic.
  14. Did you change the length of your stem at the same time? If not, it was a pointless exercise.
  15. Thing is, we already have a panel voting for the pic of the day. And this is a community, so the final decision should be left to us. IMO. I
  16. thing is, majority of the time on these chinese lights (and some of the non chinese lights) the lumen figure is calculated as a theoretical max output if the LED's are driven at their max amperage. Which is generally 2 to 3 times higher than they are actually driven.
  17. and quite frankly, while voting for mates is perfectly fine, the length at which this result was "decided" by fictitious accounts - which could only have been put into place with the sole aim of winning this competition, MORE THAN A MONTH AGO - is disgusting. I propose that voting only be open to members with more than 100 posts. At least that way there's a way of weeding out dual posters before they have a chance of voting in the compo.
  18. Nice Gregg!!! Couldn't have gone to a better oke.
