  1. Ah. And you got to that conclusion, how? All he's asking is that fun riders take cognizance of the danger they're putting themselves and other fun riders in by taking up the whole road and not riding in an orderly fashion. In short - there is no offence, but you decided to take umbrage at some implied slight which only you can see. It's a perfectly reasonable letter. Start at the back of the Argus or any other fun ride and see how mayhem ensues with disorderly riding...
  2. Yeah, but not for that reason. IIRC it's on a 4 year contract deal for the "non european" legs. So we were on the way out and had to renegotiate for an extension. Nigel knows more about it though.
  3. Yeah, he did demolish the field, didn't he. It was a class in climbing prowess and all round ability. I reckon if they hadn't dumbed down the trail in an attempt to make it more rain-friendly, it wouldn't have been so clear cut...
  4. uncalled for, and disrespectul. I'd klap you right now if you had said that in front of me
  5. Entirely dependent on your riding style, body make up and preferences. If you're a racer, slam it (if you can) If you're a trail rider, and only race for the fun of it - spacers are cool. At the end of the day, if the slammage is making you feel uncomfortable on the way down, and skittish, then change it up. Put one spacer in at a time and then assess. BTW - what do you ride?
  6. Eina ***! Jees bro, you did it properly this time! Heal up fast and remember the pom poms next time. I think you'll be cheerleader for a while given the level of this particular fail! Look at it this way. At least you did the job properly!
  7. Coffee, blanket, dog and wife on the couch for a day of sporting awesomeness. TT, XCE, XCO, MotoGP, comrades... sheesh
  8. I was sure it was you riding up towards table mountain on Monday afternoon round 5... saw you pass in front of me as I got into my car when i left a client in Belladonna road...
  9. HAHA!! That corner... and then the sand around the hairpin! RAPID lane-change goings on there!
  10. TLD seems to disagree. Sure they had some pyjamas in those colours recently!
  11. Should be able to make this one, but will have to leave early. It's my lightie's birthday party in the pm!
  12. Oh and Carpet, Rata et al - roast them cyclesure bastids stukkend
  13. I shall raid the piggy bank for whatever I can. May just be a bit late, but it can go towards that last little bit of bling
  14. I saw that the other day at CWC. It's a VERY nice piece of kit....
  15. Absolutely. The cheaper ones are definitely missing out on the fit factor. Anything camelbak / Dakine / first ascent etc is great. Maxed / cheap brands - not so much.
  16. Lol. The other good thing about my big ass pack. If I want to do some extra training on the ride - wham! Take off the pack, instant dumbbell!
  17. See, I don't buy those pocketed shirt dingeses. Just a normal Maxed or Adidas etc wicking top for me Oh. And If I were to mount one on my seat post, it'd moer the bejeesus out of my dropper post.
  18. Yeah. Plus... bottle cages just don't look right on an MTB. IMO. ruins the lines. Bottles also get dirty as feck when it's muddy. Which, incidentally, is my favourite time to ride.
  19. Because he wants one. No other reason needed. I take mine, together with all my tools and spares on every ride. Even the short 12 km ones. Never know what could happen on the Trails, or when it'll start raining etc. I used to use my camelbak rogue, which has a 2l capacity and enough space to hold a rainproof shell, multi tools, pumps, phone, chain breaker, tyre levers and a patch kit. Served me well for many a year, and I will continue to use it for roadie missions. I now have a Dakine Amp 25l pack with 3l liquid storage that I pack for any eventuality, and had enough space for my elbow and knee pads, a proper jacket, spare gloves, beanie and bike lock. Yes it's heavy, but I'm prepared for anything and I've already helped a few people who would have had a long walk down otherwise. Plus it's extra training for me.
