  1. Dave, they may have failed in the terms of the burn, but to link the delay of the burn to the lack of maintenance is laughable. Yes - final trail features were left off and not put in (as well as final trail direction) until the burn was completed, but that is linked to the creation of trails. Not maintenance of trails. I repeat - the burn has fokkol to do with maintenance. It does, however, have everything to do with the fact that we were waiting for the burn to happen before putting final features in.
  2. he seemed particularly worried about snakes... Even tried to convince them not to eat him, cos he is a veggie and could therefore promise not to eat them...
  3. And you can always upgrade to a new piece after normal surgery. SO yeah - reconstructive and then when / if limited use becomes a problem or you damage it again, you can go Robo...
  4. Because the bike was stuck on the bench, between the pedal and the rear peg, and the wheel touching the ground meant it couldn't be maniipulated upwards (thereby removing the force on the pedals) - it needed sideways force ie: a kick - to remove it from the situation...
  5. To a degree, Tim, you're right. But the fact is that for a period of 3 months there has been ZERO maintenance, through no fault of Parks (a divert on Vasbyt isn't maintenance - it's a divert due to safety reasons) and that has an effect on the trail - especially when the trail in question hadn't yet been lined with clay. If there were maintenance before this - there wouldn't have been the problem of encroaching growth or dangerous obstacles. Trails would have been lined with something, and the growth would have been cut back...
  6. Deon and his 4 merry men. The guys that were maintaining the trail rather well until the embargo hit them and forced them to find alternative employment.
  7. That's Mamba - where the offending rock is (can see it in the distance next to the arrow) The pic is taken right from the top of the rock garden...
  8. AFAIK there are very few medically equipped choppers in the Cape Region... They're all outsourced to private healthcare providers who can afford to keep them running. So if they were being dispatched elsewhere, or on maintenance, then they would not have been available. And getting a spinal injury patient down from there in an ambulance (via the dirt road) is not really advisable. Mountain Rescue would generally do that, afaik. But agreed - there need to be more available for any situation.
  9. There must be B/ C lines at events. As others have said, it is mandated by UCI - and others have different skill levels to boot. As for the time penalty, I agree with Stretch. B line should (on average) take between 40% & 50% more time to complete, and the C line should take approximately double the time to complete from start to finish. If the guy taking the B line is still winning all the time, but getting passed by okes that take the A line on the tech sections, then surely he has a desire to up-skill and further increase his lead by learning to take the A line, over time? Plus - B & C lines are critical for rider development and improvement, not to mention progression.
  10. LOL. Yeah Hairy, I know - but they do have a permanent clean staff! Besides, I was talking more from the perspective of a home owner... That shooting pain while walking through the lounge? Yep. The random Lego piece that wasn't tidied up.
  11. You just caused Duane to have another heart attack.
  12. Beautiful spaces, Fanie - but you know what I think when I look at EVERY ONE of those photos? The owners of the properties have no kids. You know why I say that? There's no way in hell you can keep those places looking that good if you have kids unless there's an army of domestic engineers on permanent clean duty...
  13. He is, but he would have had to pull away from Vettel in order to make it a valid pass. As he couldn't, he needed to give the place up again as he would have been black flagged for ignoring the repeated blues (which were being waved 'cos Vettel wasn't letting him get away)
  14. yeah. 100%. Only ever used 20" (on my current rims) and also normal electrical tape with a normal tjoopless valve (on my old rims)
  15. buy a presta valved tube, cut out the valve. Use electrical tape to line the rim, make a small hole in teh tape for the valve. Insert valve in hole, with contact adhesive around base of valve to make a good seal between the valve and electrical tape. attach retention nut to valve stem, screw on tight. Bob's your mother's brother.
  16. I love that stuff. adheres to itself when stretched (heat activated, through stretching) and it GRIPS. Just gotta be sure that the surface you want it to adhere to is sparkly clean...
  17. He all but confirmed it in his 2nd post saying he shouldn't have bought from AliExpress. Caught out as a liar as well... Not bought from CRC as he originally claimed
  18. 100% CRC is just my standard online go to. After I've been there I go to the rest
  19. Just checked... xt 9 speed cassette is 250g. Deore is in the 400s. And the cassette is 400 from crc
