  1. I want some. Saying that though, I'll probably just make some more of my own...
  2. A mass download of common sense should be the first step. Not the initial, buggy, my.common.sense.is.better.than.your.common.sense.v1.24 but the more acceptable basic.common.sensev1.98 should do the trick. Sadly, there are too many leechers, and not nearly enough seeders for this to be a viable option. So - tolerance v2014 should be on everyone's download list this morning. Also - study It Is My Choice Whether to Take Offence or Not and I Must Resist Spur of the Moment Retaliations to get an idea on what proper discourse should be.
  3. Oh hells yeah. Couldn't find a nicer guy. He's so in to the riding itself, and just wants to help fellow riders. Skills clinics for the masses, always ready with a quip and always ready to shoot the breeze. Really really hope he does well this year. He definitely deserves it.
  4. Yeah, that's their "team" line. Whichis a year or 2 ahead of anything else...
  5. Oh and to add - they just replace it with a new one, off the shelf. In the box. If that one's faulty as well, wash rinse repeat.
  6. 3 letters (fork specific) - CTD. The cartridge doesn't always work. Some have to pump the fork so damn hard to get rid o fork dive that it loses all small bump compliance, some don't, some have to run it on Climb all the time (which kinda makes the whole system useless) and some just hate it altogether. Me, I think FOX stuff is overpriced. No 2 ways about it. RS stuff is FAR less costly than the equivalent FOX jobbie, and is more tuneable (mostly) Before the CTD issues though, the only thing was that they were overpriced for what they are (a name tax, if you will) but they worked. I still like the FOX 36 VAN and the FOX 40 - but that's cos they're coil forks and are bulletproof. On a new bike though, I'd rather not take the chance on a fork. I want it to work off the rack. RS does that. Fox only does it sometimes. Their shocks (rear cans) work properly though. I don't know why it doesn't carry across, but it just doesn't seem to. Search MTBR & Pinkbike etcfor CTD issues. And ask Crow / Droo what they think.
  7. Yeah, it would - but the Giant is such a good bike that you don't really need anything more than the Monarch R on the back anyway. As for the parts mix - X7 is the same as SLX. x5 is the same as Deore. I'd STILL go for the Advanced. The frame is the major drawcard in this instance, and is worth more than the difference between SLX & X5. Especially given the REBA on the front of the Advanced.
  8. If it was a short oke (very short) with grey-ish hair, that's Leigh. Good bunch of blokes there...
  9. That makes it a lot easier as well. No additional impact - the cattle would have a FAR greater impact on the surrounding vegetation & trails. Plus as Big Nig said - no need for an EIA on this land, according to the experts.
  10. Yeha. I remember how they bent on an a340 across to the states, in a particularly large storm system. Lightie next to me was sweating bullets when he saw that AND the lightning flashes, coupled with the turbulence. Still one of the most wondrous things in the world. I could NEVER get tired of flying. Ever.
  11. Fox fork has the CTD issues that they are desperately trying to fix. Some forks have the issues, some not. They were supposed to have fixed the fork-dive under braking and in other conditions, but they seem not to have completed it all the way. RS on the other hand are buletproof.
  12. Advanced. The REBA is reason enough for it. If you get a Giant-selling LBS to build it for you, you will have the warranty on teh frame just as if you had had the bike bought whole (if the frame is new, that is) As for which frame of the 2 - I'd take the Advanced every time. Giant's carbon frames are very good. And Jacquers - wtf are you smoking?! SLX = X7, XT = X9 ito parts equivalencies on Shimano / SRAM. So the parts kit is the same. Oh - and I'd take the monarch over the RP23 any day.
  13. As Nigel says, the indemnity side is the single most important thing, once landowner consent is given. But - in order to get the indemnities in place, you need to jump through a few hoops. One of these hoops is made a bit easier by way of becoming affiliated with AMARider - who have their own indemnity insurance in place, specifically for trails. But for this to happen, your trails need to be rationalized, designed within certain guidelines (IMBA) and categorized according to their difficulty. And, I am afraid, a simple "I waive all rights" type of indemnity that you have people sign upon entering the land will NOT hold up in court when someone ends themselves on a jump that wasn't built correctly / within the scope of the trail. Best chat to Nige (as he's posted here) and Meurant. Meurant goes all over the country trying to do this exact thing for other trail centres, who need to get their affairs in order. He is a wealth of knowledge on the matter, and can assist you properly. Good luck bro!
  14. Mavic is the better set. Stronger as far as I know.
  15. LOL! At the premiere of one of the MTB movies, Crow was sitting a few seats in front of me. I called him b his real name about 3 or 4 times, then switched to his hub name. INSTANT reaction.
  16. She seems to have gotten a bit hairier, balder, and, well, wider.... since i last saw her...
