  1. Yeah. It sure was a great fork. And in superb condition. Just for my riding, it's not "big" enough so I swopped it out for the Revelation.
  2. http://www.hayesdiscbrake.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Stroker45-21883EnglishWeb.pdf and http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/workshop-how-to-bleed-hayes-stroker-disc-brakes-24515/ Google it, Dorpie.
  3. on the Revelation? It was a deal that I got in but out of the Hub. Not advertised, actually. But bought from a hubber.
  4. I gave somebody a great deal the other day - 2011 Reba RLT with remote lockout. One scratch. Just serviced, max 1,000km on the fork (half on the road) gave it away for R 2,500. Then I got a bargain on a Revelation to replace it. R3k. Brand new. Have also had "mate's rates" for a couple of things, but that's hardly fair to divulge as a "bargain"
  5. No, sorry - it's an RST Titan Air. Still a reasonable fork for the money! And the Rock Shox is the SHOCK. For the back. Fork = Front. Shock = Back.
  6. yeah, looks like a good deal. If that fork is a Suntour Epicon, it's a reasonable fork (around the level of a Recon in RS terms) and you'll be hard pressed to find better value.
  7. I know what you mean... I'm running 1x9 at the moment (32 at the front, 11-34 at the back) and my chain snapped halfway to tokai. Luckily it was just 4 / 5 links away from the quicklink, so a fix was possible (left my chain breaker at home) but I lost my top 2 gears. Eish, I suffered...
  8. Those extra 2 teeth do make a marginal difference, yes. It's small, but it's there! Moving the "lighter" crankset to the heavier bike would be logical, due to the extra weight you are pushing up the hills. And there's quite a difference in weight between the Air 9 and the Jet 9 IIRC!
  9. Total and utter BS, mate. We can see from the pic already that the spacing is incorrect. Move it approx 1-2mm down the seat tube, reattach the derailleur cable and adjust accordingly. Whoever the person at the LBS was is talking out his 4ss.
  10. Damn... Speaking of which, I need to update my insurance after the upgrades on my hardtail...
  11. What do the Gold Star locks look like? A normal padlock, or one of those U-Locks?
  12. Yeah. Those Thule knob things can be broken with a strong shove of a screwdriver. With braided cabling, you'd need bolt cutters. With those big-ass london-style U-Locks, though, you'd struggle for a while to get them off.
  13. No ways bro. I'll sit on you! Seriously though, I would GLADLY swop you my GT DHI for that thing...
  14. Nice! And pleasure! I remember from the XTerra at Grabouw... No way a road bike could handle THAT much sand!
  15. At that price point the gruppo isn't even going to last a neighbourhood jaunt, let alone proper MTB.
  16. Caerus, I don't need to tell you this - but anybody who leaves a bike unattended (even if locked to the car) outside Woodcutters is looking for trouble. Yes, they may have been going to the pharmacy or to Ultra for a dop on the way home, but still... leave someone with the bikes! Either that, or pay the car guard BEFORE you leave the car. But heck - not good either way. Hope they had insurance!
  17. Agreed, and yes... Cos she also has an mtb, and would be doff in the extreme to buy new pedals and shoes just for the road bike and have to swap all the time...
  18. The genius has more travel, and is geared more towards trail / am riding and aggressive cross country than the spark. It's a very capable bike, the Genius, and for me, I'd go for that over the spark any day. Also, seeing as you're currently riding the 1-20, the spark may seem a tad too much "xc" compared to the current ride (steeper head angle = more jittery) My guess is that you'll have more fun on the genius...
