  1. Maybe Kaspersky needs to run a scan on that there F1 sled. Cos it looks like it's corrupted...
  2. Skylark - I'd go for the shifters over the RD. Yes, the RD is the more visible item, but IMO the shifters, with their greater adjustability than the XT / SLX shifters, as well as better build quality, together with a fully enclosed RD cable, will trump the SLX shifters and fully enclosed cable with the XTR RD. Why? Well, the differences in the shifters are marked. Better bearings. More adjustability. Lighter weight. Better materials. Those make a marked difference in the "feel" of the shifting experience. The RD, however, is slightly different. The only differences it has over the SLX is a toighter spring (better reaction to shift changes) and a lighter weight, thanks to the CNC machines & carbon trying to get the lightest possible part. You don't get any greater adjustability, and, tbh, I think you get a part that will break more readily than the chunkier SLX RD that you have at the moment. First prize: XTR shifter, fully enclosed cabling system and a stronger spring for the SLX RD, if you can get that. Second Prize: XTR Shifter & fully enclosed cabling third prize: All XT with fully enclosed cabling 3 1/2 prize: XTR RD & fully enclosed cabling, SLX Shifter fourth prize: All SLX with fully enclosed fifth: XTR shifter with normal cabling & SLX RD sixth: XTR RD with normal cabling & SLX shifter
  3. The guys at Alfie Cox are good 'os. Go there for a chat and blag some off them. I'm sure they won't mind. Plus, you can perve over their bikes at the same time.
  4. U know, that guy that always complained but never pitched up for the build days. I forget his name though
  5. No such thing as too technical. Just stuff I can't ride yet due to my mind blocking out my innate awesomeness. As for levels of tech, it would be graded against each other. Eg: faerie garden is piss easy, therefore green. DH2, however, is not so piss easy, and is therefore black. Can I do both? Yes. The latter slower than I would like as its technicality outweighs my current ability and / or level of brass ball-ality. Anything that is "too technical" would pose a challenge, nay, dare! to me, and I want to overcome that.
  6. Urban - I think you mean attained, not calculated... In this case, it's attained by virtue of consumerism. The value attributed to second hand bike parts is generally 50% of their list price (depending on the item) It would be calculated on the value of the item, if bought new.
  7. Rofl... Just out of curiosity, why r u selling it?
  8. I'll give you R 20 and a six-pack of your fave beer, together with a 500g bag of Origin's finest...
  9. yeah. That's kinda the situation that Capricorn's in... the hype (for Fox forks) is immense, and they're generally HOT, but it feels so wrong when you ride it (her) and he carries on riding it (her) in the hope that the feeling may change... Katie Perry, however... I might just turn into a redneck for a month... And ridden whilst having a crisis? Is that like riding through the red-light district in the middle of their Christmas Specials display extravaganza?
  10. Bwahaha! No malice, Mada. I'm just ragging Capricorn 'cos his new bike has a Fox on the front. You have an awesome bike, with an awesome fork. Apparently, it's like sleeping with Katie Perry then finding out she's your sister. All right at first, but the more you ride the more it freaks you out.
  11. Unlike me. BTW - How's the Fox? Exit stage left.
  12. HAHA! Mada, you're rubbing salt in Capricorn's wounds!
  13. AWESOME! I still have my old (used once) tires that suffered a cut that was too big for a snotdrollejtie and the patches were just being pushed through. Will get some of these and have a new (old) replacement tire!
  14. Awesome. That's precisely my view. And thanks 4 the tip on noiseninja. Will def check that out. ITO flash at weddings, it's a personal opinion of mine that flashes should not be used in the church, because it distracts from the ceremony itself. Plus, with a vaulted ceiling, you're going to have to have multiple studio flashes in order to get enough light to bounce to make a difference. You can get away with using a proper lens, without a flash at all. At the reception, go wild.
  15. Fair enough. And yeah, the 5d has the bigger (and far better) sensor. ITO 50D, I can get a new 7D at a heavily discounted price, so that would be the route I'd go if I were looking for a new camera. Personally, I think the 5D is overkill. Like me buying a Trek EX 9.9SL because my EX9 isn't the ultimate. Stupid, in other words. And yeah re the 1.8. I agree there.
  16. That's what I keep on saying. She's getting into wedding photography, and does quite a few shots in low light (no studio) or at night so ISO sensitivity is a big issue. I don't care what anybody says, you should NOT use a flash at a wedding ceremony. And we can see how grainy it's getting at ISO 1600 on the 450, whilst using the 50mm f1.8. Also families & kids, so the increased burst-photo capability would also be good when it comes to kids (they NEVER keep still, and trying to catch a PROPER smile is one of the hardest thing to do when it takes 15 minutes for them to realise that you're not going to bite their heads off) Also - she's using the "cyclist's argument" with me now, seeing as we've got a little one on the way. Discussion goes like this: (her) We want the best pics of our baby we can get, right? (me) Yeah, of course. (her) Then we need the best camera we can get, right? (me) I suppose (her) Then can you get me the 5d and a bevy of L lenses? (me) er.....
  17. Yeah, agree with the Canon's ease of use! My wife is trying to get me to say that I'll buy her a 5d body (we've currently got a 450d) cos she wants the low-light capability that the 5D has when comparing with "prosumer" models. I'm trying to convince her that we should rather get the lenses first, as those will greatly enhance the current camera's useability and low-light response when it comes to longer zoom settings, as well as at below 50mm when the f1.8 prime can't be used. The thing is, if we get the lenses now, we'll still have a camera to use them with. But if we get the new body now, we'll still have to get new lenses anyway... The new lenses (thinking 24-70 f2.8L & a 100mm f2.8L) with the current cam will be far better than the existing lenses with a new cam, even taking into account the significantly superior low light characteristics that the 5d has. One word remains though. OUCH! Those babies aren't cheap...
  18. Absolutely. The term in the policy is aimed at making the client aware that they need to ensure that thieves are deterred from stealing their bike. Forcible entry clause would cover the cutting / breaking of the lock and chain / cable. It just needs to be big enough that if someone were to attempt to break it, it would be obvious, and would require a bit more force than a smaller, less secure lock & chain.
  19. Agreed. Even a Hardened Steel Shackle lock will be cut through like butter with a pair of bolt cutters used the right way.
