  1. Shooooweee, Nige! It's gonna be interesting...
  2. Now I feel vastly inferior... Caveman's time was the same as mine, and I did the lite!
  3. Oh my soul. That was tough. Swim was good to start, but by the time the first.okes were out, I was just rounding the first buoy at the 110m Mark. But I just took it easy, and finished reasonably strong. The.ride was very good. *** sandy, but good as long as you kept pedalling. Only had to stop twice due to okes in front of me stopping and falling in the sand. Downhill sections and any flat sandy sections were where I passed the majority of ppl, and made up the most time. It's amazing how few ppl can actually ride on sand and have to go slower on the downs than they do on the ups. Anyway. The bike was awesome and i finished strong. Then came the run. Fail. It was 25% longer than advertised at 6.3km. And.Sandy as feck. For a guy who battles to run 4k at the best of times, that was a killer. I walked 66% of it, but I finished at the.end. So yes. It was tough. Anybody who wore a wetsuit today is a certifiable pansy, cos it sure as hell wasn't cold, and I didn't need one at all. But it was a helluva fun thing to do, and I will do it again. 2 words sum it up rather well. F*****g awesome.
  4. no, the right thing to do would be to get a bike that suits you and your riding style / pocket / taste. Don't let the market rule what you want to get, unless it becomes a price issue, which it shouldn't. 29 & 26 & 27.5 is going to be around for a while yet. Get what you feel is right for you.

  6. a paltry 400m for the LITE version. 800m for the full. Lite is 400 swim/10bike/5k run Full is 800/20k/10k for the full, I'd want some sort of spandex short for the cycle. The rest, meh.
  7. Sulphur. And the fact remains that the only persons to name the element "aluminum" to this day are the North Americans. Typical "we know better" attitude.
  8. Dude, that linkage is seriously awesome... I like how the first linkage would effectively run an arc around the down-tube, pulling the top section of the linkage triangle down to compress the shock, almost like a convoluted Meta 5.5 linkage, except not. Initially I was like WTF?! Until I saw that the first linkage has no "axle" assembly and effectively runs a U type setup... AWESOME use of the Single Pivot design. And yes, I want one too...
  9. yeah, but that Dorado on there would have been 50% of the weight right off!
  10. gonna ride in the morning and check it oooooout! Jimmy - you know it's Tim's birthday today, right?
  11. It does say Bike Out / Bike In / Run In / Run Out. For fun, I wouldn't even get a tri-suit. Worthless unless you're going to get into it fully. For your first time, see how it goes and just. have. fun.
  12. I'm doing the lite version. IMHO, 10km on a bike isn't enough to warrant cycling shorts, so I'm swimming, cycling and running in my normal MAXED training shorts. Nothing more, nothing less. For the transitions, you get to place your running & cycling kit in a single area. I'm going for the same socks on my running & cycling legs, and not worrying how much time I spend in the t-zone. It's just for fun...
  13. Saw it yesterday on my personal XC suffer-fest. It's looking okay. Rained a bit in the morning which didn't do much. Today's rain should have done more good to the trails though. Otherwise, it was looking good. Just a bit apprehensive of the giga-kicker, and how it looks as if it's gonna kick my ass into next century. EEK!
  14. Kona Satori - 130mm Tallboy (out of budget, probably) - 120mm I'm sure there are more...
  15. try to do a single leg legpress... should be the easiest way to get an answer
  16. Eishoo. Just received an SMS from XTerra... "Bad weather & strong winds currently playing havoc with XTERRA Route signage in Grabouw. Lite ROute marking to be completed after bad weather subsides. Full route athletes recommended to postpone pre-rides until thursday (route markers & Split boards being blown away)" Eish.
