Nice sentiments, but damn dude, the market is global now. Get with the times... Soaps that you use in the carwash are sourced abroad, so are the clippers in the hairdresser & the tills in the shops. Why should it be a tradition to buy only South African products? I want to get the best my money can get. If that is South African, then so be it. Your rationale is somewhat flawed though, in that all (okay, most) of the stores we buy our stuff at are South African as well, even though they sell imported goods. Do you propose boycotting them in favour of something else that you may not need? What about the manager's job at Sportsmans Warehouse or HiFi Corp when he doesn't sell as much product? My view - buying from a South African source should not be restricted by buying South African only goods. By supporting local businesses (pretty much every business in RSA fits under that banner) we are doing our bit for the local economy. Failing that - SPAM!

Eishoo - Don't think so, mate. Those things are pressure fitted (as far as I remember) and any sort of change could be disastrous for the integrity of the structure...

Oh, I think I can... Coming home from a jol one night (work drinks) in 2008. Middle of the Eishkom balckouts, and this night was one of those when the whole of CT was out. I get dropped off at my place, and I can't see where I'm going - hands on the walls type stuff. I'm also a bit peckish, and thirsty, and I remember I have some chips in the cupboard. But how am I going to find them? Ah - I know - I'll open the fridge. That's got a light in it. It'll switch on when I open the door. So I open the fridge door, and wonder, for about 2 minutes, why the light isn't coming on. Then the internal light comes on (inside my head) and it says - "damn. The bulb must have blown" Double facepalm.
