  1. I'm doing it myself. Cost of paint (primer, paint & enamel topcoat) is less than R 200... Plus, it's faster and easier for me to do it myself.
  2. Question - Metallic Gloss or Flat Gloss? Colour will be a deep grey. Gun-metal like.
  3.  Thanks GRB! A lot of blood, sweat & monster went into that trail!
  4. klap to the side of SANParks & Sappi's heads, forcing a re-boot of policy and approval strategies. Also runs an internal de-bugging programme.
  5. Banna - it needs a re-spray, and TBH the existing colour scheme isn't my favourite version of the DHI's offerings. In addition, it'll be coming down to a cost issue as well as ease of application. Can you imagine trying to block out all those different colours on a home-job?! I'll be buying a sticker-kit as well, but just for ease of application and a colour that will stand the test of time, the grey is winning out at the moment...
  6. Same. Rode it on Sunday at approx 2pm. Love it.
  7. Fast. Very nice. But I stuffed it up, not lifting the front for either the dropoff at the top, or the booster onto the new line. Result? 2m long endo both times. That's what you get for attempting a never-before-ridden section after 3 hours of hard riding. But I'll hit it again this weekend... Need to.
  8. Thanks mate. Sure I will have fun! Nigel - It's a tough one... I'm in 2 minds about respraying original, or giving it a stealth gun-metal grey finish with the fork in black, a la But the original paint finish does look good. At the moment, the frame does need a re-spray, but it will be a slow process, as I still need to get hold of some parts so that she can be ridden. I see a few trips to Cape Town Cycles to get some 2nd hand bargains... That, and a Boobar with 30mm stem. Nice. Still waiting for somebody to buy my road bike though...
  9. Boil, bubble, spit! Heh - that is a killer section of track. Last time I made it up there I was 10kg lighter, and a lot fitter! It's a lekker section, for sure. Puff puff puff. Spin those legs!
  10. Well, in order to stay true to the DH thing, it'd be prudent to go down from the mast and continue on the fire road until the start of the DH sections...
  11. Thanks mate! And I know all about riding fast couches - had the pleasure of riding Capricorn's M9 FRO. Oh. My. Hat. It's a totally different experience! Anyway, it needs cleaning up, and there's a bit of stiction in the rear shock, but that's normal for an 11 year old bike. Just need to give it a good service, i suppose... Can't wait to get on it! As for the XC machine, I'll still be riding her. And I still do ride her. She's a lekker bike, and that's what I will be doing my cardio training on. Kinda hard to do that on a DH bike, you know!
  12. LOL! Shot mate. And don't worry, I still wear lycra (under my baggies)!
  13. Awesome. Shot Nige, I'm really looking forward to getting it on the trails. Quite a bit that still needs doing, and my funds are limited at the moment. Waiting for my road bike to sell before I finish her... And you might be right about the 2000 boxxers being 180mm... Will have to do a bit more digging though. For the moment though, I can concentrate on cleaning it up and getting it all SPARKLY!!!
  14. Dude - not cool. I think I remember that episode....
  15. Guys - really. Get real now. Dv16 - you've been invited to MULTIPLE build sessions. You are yet to show up. Your insistence that you will only pitch up to build XC tracks (because you say you only ride XC singletrack) going on evidence in this here thread, is BS. You ride the tracks that we maintain. Pitch up, or stfu. GRB - I agree with you here. Signage is an issue we all need to work towards, in order to maintain a proper element of rider safety and awareness as to what is proper, and allowed. As soon as signage has been erected, ignorance is no longer an excuse (not that it ever was, as we can see here) PorS - when r the signs coming? I've got a 10lb hammer and a heavy right hand just waiting for them! Capricorn - Where the hell are you, beeyatch? ;-) Oh Mega Man - I hate you. I hate Morzine. I hate random build sessions, followed by the feeling of ripping down a new section of track. Cptmayhem - you needed to move more rocks at the last build session. Overall though - there is NO excuse for riding up a DH only track. The guys new to Tokai would not be the ones doing this. It would only be the guys who know Tokai, and as such, have SEEN the DH designation at the trail heads. No excuse. Dv16 - until you and your brethren realise this, we will get nowhere with this discussion. We are all for safety. Heck, I see guys more padded than a frikkin ice-hockey goalie on the trails. And they're going DOWN the Down Hill Only trails. Not up them. The majority of trails in Tokai are uni-directional. Don't be a tosser.
  16. Just got this. Well, I got it last week, but I broke it to the wifey this evening whilst out to dinner. So she couldn't say anything... Lookin forward to givin it a go when she's properly built up! Oh - that's my XC machine in the background... Frame: 2000 GT DHI Weight: F**** knows. She heavy Fork: 2000 Boxxer 150mm. Damn Rebound: Stiff spring only Preload: See Reload Compression adjustment: See Preload Pressure: See Compression Adjustment of Fork: See Pressure Shock: RS Deluxe Pro - 7" travel Wheels: Alex DX 32 front, Mavix DH 521 Rear Hubs: Formula front, Hope Pro 2 rear Crank: Bargain basement (42 tooth - OUCH!) RD: XT (oooooold) 150mm rear 12mm maxle rear, and proper 20mm thruaxle front. Bars: Not yet Shifters: Not yet Chain: Not yet Tires: Not yet Ready to rip it when it's ready... Hell yeah!
  17. Erm - Domestique is up to 200 posts, methinks. ultimate Hubber is beyond that. I am better than you 'cos I has more posts...
  18. Yeah, they are, mate! Took a spin down there myself as well, and almost saw my pip twice. First on the little drop-off after those 2 berms (didn't lift the front and went front wheel first into the dirt, endo-ing all the way down the landing) and then on the little booster onto the "new" section of the divert. Wasn't going fast enough, and I didn't boost it. Front went straight down into the soft, soft earth. Once again, endo'd for a good 2 metres. Figured I'd better leave it at that. Moral of the story - don't try the new DH track that you've never ridden before after a 2 1/2 hour XC suffer-fest. You will lose!
  19. ROFL... serious. It'll fit you perfectly! Anyway... It'll be a while before the bike is ready. But in the meantime, I can start stripping her down and cleaning her, then start with the rebuild. Might give her a respray as well - paintwork is a bit old, and it'd look class with a solid colour. Pics will follow later on this weekend...
