  1. It makes the work day more interesting!!
  2. How long until the leaders should be arriving at the finish?
  3. Depends on the strength of your lights. I normally ride one on helmut and one on bike (one battery with 2 globes, 1 broad beam and 1 brighter narrower beam). That way I can see the path and can also see wherever I look. No lights on track...not that I can remember...so what out for the ghosts past the graveyard!!
  4. +1 on the warm clothes - its gets cold the wee hours of the morning +1 on spare kit - nothing worse than getting cold in wet kit from sweating while you wait around for your next lap +1 on the "have fun'' attitude!! ...and camping chairs to sit and a camera!!
  5. Thanks guys for the up to the minute updates, really appreciate!!

  11. Hi. Edenglen mtb group rides from Edenvale, sometimes do " outrides " from other places, like this weekend we riding at Rietvlei. You welcome to join us. If you interested I can send you the contact details for guy who organises the rides.
  12. If she wanted the lower bar the ladies bikes have and bigger comfy seat ...... all I can say is "May the force be with you" !!
  13. I am slightly shorter than your wife and recently upgraded my ladies 26er and got a mans frame 26er. 29er debate : I am not going to be winning any races against Speedy any time so went with what was comfortable and what I felt was going to be easier to handle in the technical sections. The 29er's just felt too big to me. Ladies have shorter bodies : I just have to put a shorter stem on the bike to compensate, the rest size wise is 100% Ladies specific bike : Downpoint - I tend to find they are heavier than the equivalent mens bikes. This does make a difference on the climbing and technical sections. My new bike is round 4kgs lighter than the old one and has definately made a difference in my riding. Uppoint - the lower cross bar is an advantage. I have fallen on my mans frame cross bar - and trust me when I say it hurts. (solution - don't fall on it) The best would be for her to test a few bikes and see what makes her feel like all she wants to do is go ride her bike!! Most importantly like a friend said when I was shopping.... the bike needs to talk to you Good luck shopping

    Ride for Sight

Did the short ride, was very well organised and again - thanks to everyone involved, especially all the marshalls.
  15. My husband went to Johan's weekend course and has been servicing our bikes ever since. Was worth it for us!
