  1. Propper Fubar!!!!
  2. Yes Fanie strong like horse at the moment..Time will tell if he goes for it or not.
  3. Go Fanie and Wynand!!Good riding buddies..hope they have a great race! Feeling good about what Fanie Venter can do.. Also Piet Laubcher might be a outside bet!!
  4. Looks great and entry very reasonable!! Going to try and make this one!
  5. Thanks all! Also as a discussion point..anybody here want to venture into...Aus(Melbourne/Sydney) versus Nz(Auckland).Education systems..Economy..Social..cost of living..weather and so on. If you had the chance to do both..why would you choose the one above the other?
  6. Quick question for you guys...what are good news sources to follow for updates on happenings in NZ...social,politics and economical. Also if there is stuff that is more Auckland focused?
  7. To add to this whole thing is the "glow" period us plonkers also need to understand. So yes I can go and check for the meds on the list and yes I should not race when sick...but what about 5 days later..got some strong stuff from Doc...week later I am feeling great and no longer taking the meds and I go race. Oooopsss so and so stays in your blood for up to a month...Test positive and get a ban. That's why I just don't care at all about these things anymore...I am 40 years old and love competing but I am long past worrying about what I use as medication when I am sick. I take what the doc gives me and when I am better I go race. Only problem with this is I race for a team and now all of a sudden I have to think about them as well...the impact it will have on them if I test positive for something...not nice at all!! I don't get paid to do this I just love racing...Road bikes, Mtb bikes, Trail runs,Triathlons..love them all. If some brain dead guy wants to take diet pills to try and compete then its he's problem!!
  8. Yeah I agree but the problem is they also have a role to protect people that are brain dead..like the dad that feeds the boy roids to get him to look like Bakkie Botha. So maybe there is some middle ground for the Non professionals...maybe we should not have a list of 2000 drugs maybe have a list of 20 of the really hardcore stuff that can harm you big time and then just test for that? So if you a B bunch wannabe and you want to take some diet pills because you to useless to follow a diet or eat healthy then go right ahead and have fun. But if you want to pump yourself full of Testosterone then maybe NO sorry please take door number 1 and leave....
  9. He looked very good against Kittel during the first stage a week ago. Problem is he seems to get himself into very bad positions these days. Kittel had a clear run with brilliant leadout...Cav was 3 or 4 wheels back and still managed to come up on him. Would be great to see Cav get the right leadout and Kittel having to struggle to come round. But Yes he is going to battle to get wins this year because of the number of top guys going round right now. I have a feeling because of Olympics and the strong competition for places on the track team we might see the best Cav of recent years.
  10. Sorry Yolande that this had to happen to you!! It is very unfortunate that the sport we love is in the state it is and that it has come to a point that things like this can happen to the honest ones and that they must pay for the real cheats out there. The rules are the rules and we all have to follow them. Many people on here seem to think athletes are not human and they not allowed to make mistakes. Worse thing is how people react...so many lies that the golden rule now is believe nobody and just go ahead and crucify. The list of banned substances has gotten out of hand and it is not going to get easier. Half the stuff on it has no real effect on performance but if its linked to something that might be used to mask or might cause weight loss or or or...it goes on. But in the end it's all about cleaning up our sport......
  11. That must be a mistake...that's world record type of pace for 21.
  12. Seeing that its your first one I would consider building to Om Die Dam. In my opinion doing a ultra before the comrades is very important for the legs and the head! Just make sure you are ready for the distance by then and then the Comrades will be much easier. I have only done 1 Comrades but it was on very low mileage(Less than 400k's in total) but Om die dam made a big difference in my adaptation process. Will be there supporting the Wifey next year. Might give it another go in 2017.
  13. He has done that a couple of times at the champs...one of the only races where he really has no option but to race himself....and he has been up there every time. The thing about Cav that people get wrong is to think he is past he's best and that is not the case at all. According to him he is generating as much power now as he has ever done. The only big difference is he is up against some very good competition at the moment with teams way more dedicated to the sprint train than what he has had. Plus other teams has put a lot of work into how to beat him and he's Aero way of sprinting is also copied these days by many. He is not getting slower the other teams are getting faster! He is far from done...and 13 wins in a season any team in the world will take. Team DD is going to be spending loads more time on the podium next year. Can't wait to see him win for our team!! Good Job Dougie!!!!!
  14. Our own Jens!!!! Would love to know how many k's he has done in breaks this year...every race he has done so far this year he has been in at least 1 of the main breakaways.
  15. Have also gone trough many cycles of testing over the last couple of years and at the end of the day my best races has always been the one where I did excessive loading the day before and morning before versus just racing on normal diet. I have settled into a sort of combination...low carb as far as I can during normal training and then for big races I just load up. So basically if I get it right in a week, I would say have 21 meals..only 2 or 3 will be high carb with 1 being very high carb. I never count the carbs I take on the bike or straight after the ride. Only meals.. Have had a bad high carb 2 months now and 1 thing I know is I don't want to go back to eating like that because I just feel bad the whole time.
  16. Would be great but I dont think we will see that this year...lots of big name gc guys still going for that jersey. Is Quintana not still a white jersey contender?I think mountains jersey, maybe green with EBH and lots of breakaways for exposure.
  17. Man that would be sad..the guy is useless!!!Eddie B I think we still going to see great thing off and Rynardt is the perfect leadout man for him. Sad also that they left out van Zyl,(he is going to Vuelta)..he has been their main breakaway man this year and would have been great to see him do this at the tour. But I think the guy's that rode Vuelta last year will most probably get the nod ahead of guys that has no grand tour experience.
  18. I would think close but really hope that they don't take Farrar...so maybe 3 of the internationals and 1 of the rest of Africa riders will be left out. Please Douglas...please no Farrar....
  19. The sprinters that MTN signed are a real disappointment at this stage! 8th in that field is just bad!! Maybe they should give Rynardt more opportunities to sprint because these guy's just keep getting it wrong and I am sure he will do better if he can get into the same kind of form he had 2 or 3 years ago and they give him more responsibility! Will be interesting to see the final TDF squad.
  20. This is very early for wildcard selection? Is that the actual list or just included wildcard teams that will be picked from? Just asking have not been able to read the news on this.
  21. Entered..will be hard but can't wait One of the hardest 3 hours and some you can do! Entry is getting very expensive...right now I think it is borderline ok still but only because I love that race and we do always get some good goodie bags and it is well organized.
  22. Anybody been to the Harvey nature reserve close to Eastgate shopping center? Looks like the Linksfield ridge runs inside that reserve and there is some hiking paths. I drive past there on my way back from Work everyday and would like to go for a run there if it is worth it.
  23. Like everyone said...slowly build up. But my opinion would be to find a nice 5k trail somewhere in your area and start doing that once a week combined with a shorter road run or 2. Trail running use different muscles when you run and the chances of getting your typical repetitive movement injury is less with trail running as your strike is different the whole time. Just make sure you walk some of the technical bits in the beginning and don't try and run the whole 5k.Walking on a trail is much nicer than on the road so doing a 5k run/walk will be far better than just a 3k on the road. Chances are your will get stronger faster this way and the enjoyment will be much more so you are also more likely to stick with it. Enjoy!!
