  1. It wasn't nearly long enough
  2. okay, still figuring this all out... think the lens was a little dusty...
  3. The GoPro ran outta space at about 23-25km i think (still had Monster recordings on)... so i should have those little descents. Once done with todays training, i'll have a sqwizz.
  4. running you say... looks like walking...
  5. Results are here: http://www.verticalhorison.co.za/ViewResultMTB/tabid/2406/language/en-US/Default.aspx
  6. Marathon back up to 75km...? Thought it had been shortened. Is it now the same route as last years eco challenge event?
  7. What an awesome event, we were also expecting something fast and flattish but it was very different, the 50 was a proper mtb ride. Must say I'm not a big fan of cut grass sections but the route was good, some err "fun" descents and quite technical loose climbs. Well organised and definitely better being a smaller event than having masses of people. Was kinda glad they missed out the 5km near the end, was not enjoying that headwind into the finish. The guy and I that spent most the middle part of the race riding together saw loads of game, jackals, zebra, waterbuck, kudu, some other bucks, the wildebeest herd came pretty close and we rushed towards the dam wall while they ran around us. That little climb up those wooden logs near the end with a camera man lying in wait, was just nasty, wonder how many actually made it up or did we all get photos pushing. Overall happy with the 2h19. Hats off to Henry for winning, even after having to stop a few times to pick up his GoPro, and then riding home (think to Honeydew) afterwards!!! The couple that were on their rigid single-speeds... Eish...!!! Great catching up to the guys and gals afterwards while watching the Ellies and having a beer.
  8. AM Classic Race 26" are 1320g Nice and light but are a little soft, got a couple dings in mine.
  9. yeah! thanks but it was all about the delivery. swift01 was no where to be seen... snuck away to have a quiet moment by the car...
  10. That's how you get greeted on the finish line
  11. Looking forward to this one, the 75km (77) last year was my first mtb race.
  12. Just need to chop them down in size a little, recorded 17Gb.
  13. Hey, my AM Classic Race's handled the punishment! and we know I'm a little enthusiastic on the descents...
  14. So, who's out on their bike this morning... As usual the monster doesn't disappoint. Started cramping at the 50km mark, man that does put a damper on progress, especially the climbs at the end where you don't dare get out the saddle, without the fear of both legs locking up. Great meeting everyone in the tent afterwards. All things considered, happy with the 4:39, slower than last year but it was 5km longer.
  15. @Bionic chick will be riding her first race after breaking her ankle in January, only the 20 for now, baby steps as we build the strength back up. Last years ride... was my 2nd mtb race, after Rooiberg 75 a month before. http://app.strava.co...ivities/9360887 As said, the Monster climb isn't that bad, it's the little climbs afterwards that cause much moaning. 2012 Profile:
  16. It could possibly be that your stop time isn't taken into account. so your x hour ride of x km's gives you an avg, but if you stopped for 30 min, it would change the avg speed
  17. also past Chris and the Sky Jag that morning in the Cradle, going up the hill towards Kloofzicht... He was heading down the hill...
  18. i'm on Windows. only just got it, so i'm still figuring it all out. correction 720, 1h40 was just under 8GB
  19. would have to check but i think 2h20 on 960 was about 16gb and 1h40 on 720 was about 13gb
  20. Think it's on 30fps
  21. I've changed my Hero3 to the one below 960, 720 or something i think. I don't see the need to record at the max rate. Hero3 battery lasts about 2h20
  22. Found this last night http://www.bicycling.com/training-nutrition/training-fitness/social-climber DON’T - Turn friendly group rides into KOM battles. - Yell “Strava!” on a descent and expect other cyclists to move out of your way. - Half-wheel a friend for an entire ride, then brag about your Suffer Score. STRAVADDICTION n. a state of aggravated, Strava-induced irrationality so extreme that it can cause coffee-shop rides to degrade into slugfests. so who's yelled Strava on route... lol me: http://app.strava.com/athletes/199565
  23. Not a purchase, but a birthday pressie over the weekend.
