Just open gravel roads. Best training is up Goukou river on western side until klipfontein. Opposite the right turnoff to the river crossing is a "plaashek" on your left hand. Go through and follow the track until you get to the gravel road once again(45min). Then turn left until Blombos road tnen left to Stillbay(About 3hrs with lots of climb
Good advice: Put a warm jacket and leg warmers as well as long gloves in your bag for Bergplaas. If it is wet(and it will most likely be), also dry vest , pants and shoes. Just put the used clothes in the bag. If it is really cold , then wet clothes can make you real miserable from there till the end. There is also no watercrossings from there on. It is gonna rain a lot in the Baviaans this week, so all the streams will be flowing. Good Luck!
Harkerville and Petrus se Brand is very close to each other. You can take the N2 for 15Km to Garden of Eden Nature Office and obtain a day permit there( That's in Plett direction) You can also take the 7 Passes road at the Rheenendal turnoff just west of Knysna. Go up Phantom Pass and follow the road until you get to Farleigh forest station . This is the start of the Farleigh single track(amazing) If you go a liitle bit further you get to Homtini trails( also very Good) At the Cape Nature office in Thesen Island you can get a free map for al the trails. Doing Haute Route Alps from 18 -24 Aug. 7 Timed stages, 880km, 20 cols, 22000m of vertical climbing from Geneva to Nice, the whole length of the French Alps. Did a lot of training, but pray that it was enough!
Be very careful with a torque wrench. If it is not 100% calibrated it can do a lot of damage. From 3 to 4 Nm is 25% difference. I once cracked the top tube of a road bike in the clamp of a bike stand. Well it was a Giant, so I should have known not to clamp it. Ok just a joke about the Giant, but be careful with clamps and wrenches

Ok , a bit too harsh. But , it looks too good to be for real. The fact is, his times are as good as the "doped" LA. What kind of rider was Froome 3 years ago? John Lee Augustyn was better than Froome!
I also think he went too early. With 14 km to go. If he waited until there were only 5 left , it would have gone different for him. Well maybe. By the way, for everybody speculating, froome was 2 min slower than LA an Pantani
