  1. A Warning: I did 20km/h in Plett down an easy but slippery grass covered track. I Fell and broke my ankle in 2 places, dislocated tibula and torn all the ligaments around my ankle. Thats not about inexperience( 3Epics, can't remember how many races in the last 12 years). If it's your turn, you're gonna have to face it. Enjoy, but don't be reckless!
  2. I would like to mention something else. Last weekend I did the mtb race in Plett. I crashed and broke my ankle. The medical backup were done buy NSRI. I can't thank those guys enough for the good care. The race fee were only R90, including a goody bag. I have entered races before, where you have to sign an indemnity form. That means you won't hold the organisers responsible for any personal injuries or damage to equipment.Afterwards you find out that there were no qualified medics on route , but only a Dr "on call". If we can't be guaranteed proper medical care, the race should not be hold. We tend too say the Cape Epic is expensive. Bear in mind there are 2 orthopaedic surgeons, medical doctors on route, numerous medics, helivac and other medical fasilities available, then it is not that expensive.
  3. I read on Cyclingnews.com this morning that Frank Schleck wired moneyto Dr Fuentes at the time of the Puerto scandal. His federation declared that it was for training advice, not doping. Why then was Valverde, Basso, Ulrich and a lot other pro's suspended for contact with the same person. There is too much coverup
  4. The most comfortable I've ever ridden
  5. My current ride. Although a bit harsh its a beauty
  6. How many frame builders dare to give a lifetime warranty. Up to date I've ridden 2 Treks.Look 585 and 595 Ultra. 1 Battaglin. Colnago C40 and C50. Time VXRS Ulteam and now a Time RXRS Ulteam. All of them are great bikes. The Look is great. The C40 is the most comfortable of them all, although its a decade old. Time, is in my opinion the one with the edge and they give a lifetime warranty.
  7. I'm also a farmer. I am still paying the bank each month for the land that I "stole". If Malema want to nationalise land, every bank in SA will go bankrupt because we give our farm as security when buying new land or for production loans. If the ANC nationalise property the banks' assets will be worthless, so will every house and property in SA lose all its value. The only people that he impress is the uninformed crowd cheering him on. There is a huge growing black middle class in SA who see him for what he is: an illiterate political opportunist. I am a farmer and I am not afraid of Malema or his followers. I am not going to Aussie. The grass is greener on the other side , because there is more "***" there. If you have money to invest, do it in agricultural companies who are spreading there bussiness into Africa. You will be richly rewarded in 10 years time.
  8. Avid XX is the worst by far. Replaced mine with Hope before Epic. Very satisfied

  10. Use a solid bike case, Try DHL
  11. I agree with Iron. If it is not a mech problem, then most likely your reach is too long. Had the same problem
  12. go for it
  13. I live 300km from CT. I usually decide a week before if I can go. The late entry is too expensive. This weekend the Wesbank race in Oudtshoorn takes place and the entry is R90. Not as big as 99er, but the same organising, with a lot more activity for the family at the finish
  14. I use it before hard workouts. The way it makes you feel let me think its hardly legal
  15. Basso is the dangerman. Jurgen van den Broeck is also a wild card. Don't think Leopard Trek will be able to control the race from start to finish , while Liquigas showed in the 2010 Giro they have the firepower.
  16. Go to your docter and ask for a Pneumovac vaccination. You get it every 3 years. I took it and hasn't had any lung infection since. My kids also took it and when they do catch a cold it never goes to the lungs.21hrs / week is too much. Rather ridwe shorter and harder
  17. I agree with tarmac. I used stans on different tyres through the years and never heard of it.
  18. I agree. it looks like it is all about the Elite Riders. I wonder what age groups contribute most to CSA license fees. We should demand them keeping the same format as other years.
  19. If it is zero, your'e dead. Forget about it for the rest
  20. I am an ostrich farmer. Meat gets exported to EU. The rules and regulations to comply with EU standard are VERY strict. No antibiotics, growth hormones and similar stuff are tolerated. Every batch of meat exported are tested. Only a fool would risk losing your export status, Same goes for livestock farmers in Europe. Contador is guilty. ( I am a Contador fan) If you look for contaminated beef , buy SA Grainfed beef. Every animal coming in to the feedlot get a growth hormone implant on arrival. Please don't stop eating meat.
  21. Have one for sale. R4500. 0829227215
  22. I tested the Momsen carbon , which is not released yet. I also rode a Niner and a Scott Alu. The Momsen is far superior. It's light and has internal cable routing. The test bike has Stans no tubes rims and SRam XO 2*10. I think it will be worth the wait
  23. Those avid brakes are the biggest s...t! I have XX on my Scott Spark RC and have problems with brakes from the start. The guys at most bike shops don't want to work on it anymore. I will sell mine at half price
  24. Why do kids that occasionally ride the short distance at a MTB - event, need to buy a license? I suggest that riders that ride the long distance need a license, because they are riding with competetive riders. I have to buy 3 addisional licenses for my kids. The youngest is 9 years. This is just greed on CSA side. All riders should protest, because this is keeping kids from riding at mtb events. Entry fees are expensive enough.
