  1. And just to clarify, everyone got a chance to ride with him one on one. They didnt have to sit that far behind all the time you know!!
  2. Worth every cent. Look who you are riding with. Armstrong appeals to every single one of us...we all know his story, and it motivates us all. How many others have won 7 Tours De France? Raised so much money for Cancer foundations worldwide? Not many...and although the guys on the ride this morning may not have been in a lab coming up with a cure for Cancer...their money will contribute to it. The JAG foundation benefits, and at the end of the day someone who had very little hope, suddenly has a little more because of it. So, yes...I reckon it was worth every cent. Names history will remember... Churchill Barnard Gandhi Mandela Senna Armstrong. Those lucky few got a private audience with the last name on that list.
  3. Riders who wear ProTour team kit to match their bikes...I know your not Alejandro Valverde!!! Oh...and people who turn at right angles to get the water being handed out at water points... And black socks, socks halfway up your calf, socks over your shoes (even though its 4million degrees) and mismatched socks... Ok, I'm done...
  4. Yeah Edman...their free concert should be out of this world. You gotta love their dedication to the anti Idol movement!!
  5. According to Stapp on death Match they share it!!! Nobody belts a Baritone like Vedder...
  6. I love Deftones. Anyone enjoy the band FUEL?
  7. Barney was alright though...pity he's no longer on 5FM, coz I love the alternative music vibe. What do you guys think of reunited "CREED?" I really enjoyed AlterBridge, and Stapp was definately (still probably is) a tw@t, so when I heard they'd got back together I was a bit shocked. But "Rain" sounds alright in that whole feel good kinda way. As for me, sitting here listening to RATM..."Killing in the name"
  8. You could not ask for a better ambassador than Impey. And I have said that for a while...wish you all the best.
  9. Billy Idol rocks...especially "Rebel Yell"
  10. Thats impressive and shocking all in one...
  11. Yeah...I'm even gonna go do one now! Coming?
  12. Its funny how you can discover a band/singer thats been around for a long time...and suddenly its all you can listen to. I'm experiencing that with Chevelle and Staind...
  13. Chevelle "Wonder whats next"
  14. Call me 'glass half full'....but you have to admire the dedication to getting to work. Without the work, where else is he gonna get the money to pay for tyres?
  15. I believe the Conti Gatorskins are great. If your going to race with them, at least you know they are reliable, and more than likely going to get you home without any hassles. If your going to get a racing tyre, then use them only for racing so that you feel the difference. Dont ride them everyday. In all honesty, I ride Gatorskins most of the time...and my racing wheels have been equipped with Schwalbe ULTREMO's. Pumped nice and hard, they give a great ride. But its only a racing tyre as they seem to perish quickly. But as for them cutting your time by 15minutes, I doubt thats going to happen! I also believe that the best upgrade you can do on a bike when looking for extra speed, are the wheels. Good hubs, a decent lightweight wheelset with good tyres goes a long way...but expensive!
  16. Funny...these threads spark huge nostalgia! I love old retro bikes, I started riding back in 1989 at 14years old. Those were my dream bikes. I used to dream of owning an Alpina SLX with Shimano 105. (the anodized 105 7speed!) So...last year I did the FastOne on a Pinarello Prince with 11speed Super Record and deep sections, in 2H32minutes. Then, built up a lovely old Eddy Merckx steel frame with Ultegra 7speed and did 94.7 on it...did a 2H42min! And I still crashed coming of the highway. Yes, it was slower than my FastOne time, but given the race and the bike, I dont think the bike plays too much of a part!!
  17. Damn good results for both Hunter and Impey.
  18. Good question. Ask Trubie, I know they leave early from Steers in Meyersdal. If your looking for a slightly later ride, I'd ask around at the local bike shops (CycleHub or Just Cycles) I often head out on the roads around 7 30-8am, and always see at least half a dozen other riders. Good luck...
  19. This is wise advice Tachy. You'll handle the reserve no problem bud, but I'd take Andy's advice here. Its not a pleasant outing at the best of times, and I would also suggest doing it with either a riding partner or your missus following. I would strongly advise against doing it all alone...just in case. GreyOwl3.02010-03-01 13:59:20
  20. Group rides to find him and have a word. Threatening a woman is not on and I despise cruelty to animals as well. Im not advocating a beating here just a word or two that if he dosent wise up a beating may be on the way. I think a good ol fashioned beating is all this guy will respect.
