  1. You training on road bike, or MTB on the road???
  2. Sounds so cool... You write well, and have a way of making the route sound easy, which I'm sure its not...
  3. How is everyone's winter training going.....? I'll look at starting some 150km + rides from beginning of July......
  4. Physiology Department (Exercise Physiology) at Wits Med School.... I have no idea of the price.... PM me if you need contact details, but it should be on their site....
  5. I have the same KTM. Although I like it, its been a bit of a mission to get parts (cable grommets, hangers). According to the shop I got it from they only import complete bikes, and did not carry any parts stock. If anything is needed they need to remove it from a bike, or order the part in. I also got it for way less than the Scalpel would have cost me, but I think the Scalpel is a nicer bike (I do love the Lefty).
  6. Think I saw like 2300m somewhere.
  7. Anyone know if the Gravel Express at Van Gaalens will be on again this year? Thinking of doing it as training for the Waterberg...
  8. Currently still sunny, no wind, with a bit of cloud building up from the south-west. I think tonight will see the temperature drop a bit, and I think tomorrow will be mostly cloudy. I don't think it will rain (lots). I would wear whatever kit you normally wear in Potch this time of the year. Midrand/Centurion area doesn't get that cold. Perhaps have a lightweight jacket, just in case it rains a little.
  9. Don't think the route is very technical... From what I've seen its gravel grinding 99% of the way... Perhaps this as a tester? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/167429-event-waterberg-extreme-330km-26hrs/?hl=Waterberg Think it will be a nice prep for Munga...
  10. Looks awesome!!!
  11. I wanna see some pics and movies!!! It will help me to get my fat ass back in shape!!!
  12. I'm also in. Any updates on how sandy the route is?
  13. That sounds like a plan. I'll have to wait for my next paycheque before I'll be able to enter. Hopefully uptake for the solo spots is slow.
  14. Anyone here doing this? After the C2T I'm keen to try it, but I'm a bit scared of the extra distance.
  15. Dangerous wind conditions...
  16. I see the taxi drivers indicated that they are sleeping at ORT tonight, and will disrupt traffic again tomorrow. So, if you leaving from ORT, I suggest you try and get there nice and early.
  17. Wow, really?! Perhaps a less egocentric view of the world would be great. Just because YOU don't know the outcome doesn't mean its fake!
  18. I've never heard of these being repaired. I know they are well known for failing on MTBs/in wet conditions.
  19. Then I'd say drop it a bit... Your bum will be better supported and end up 'higher'
  20. Measure your knee angle, and try to replicate what you had. But, as you are supported better, it should propably drop. Also check your for/aft position of the saddle.
  21. I'm pretty sure the time starts when the gun goes (i.e. everyone in that group have the same start time), and not when you cross the timing mats
  22. I try and go past Centurion at least 2.5 hours before my starting time. I then typically get there with only about 30min to spare to get to the starting pens
  23. If there is such a lack of understanding of cycling safety or marketing; why are so many cyclists enjoying this article? As Patch has said - many different angles and approaches needs fo be adopted to change things. This is simply ONE of those. Some of the worst driving I have experienced are by cyclists while on their way to/from races in their cars. It is not a cycling vs cars thing; it is a general problem in our current society where everyone has a sense of entitlement and couldn't give a rats ass about the next person - in all environments. Can you honestly say that you obey the traffic ordinances when diving? No speeding, no dangerous overtaking, etc, etc? I'm sorry you had a bad day out on the bike; but don't bash attempts to try and help things. If you don't like the article, or things that PPA does, then simply don't read them. There are loads of people that did enjoy this read, and find it helpful. This sense of entitlement is even seen with you know trying to flog your side to death; why not simply state what you want, and let others enjoy the freedom to express theirs.
  24. I'll PM you
