  1. Hey all. Couldn't find a thread on this years event, so hopefully this isn't a duplicate. I have a question for those that have ridden CPT. I will be running a 1x setup. Running 11-45 rear cassette. Most days seem ok in terms of climbing but just not sure of swartberg and montague. Can swop rings depending on the day's stage. Was thinking a 34 or 36 for most days and a 32 or 34 for the 2 Days with the passes in. What front ring would you guys recommend? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. the Elite ladies did not finish with 120% of the elites lap times. this lead them to not qualify for the olympics
  3. What bikes do you have. My stages on my road bike gives me 30-40w more than my training mountainbike. My road bike is a modern stiff carbon frame. my Mountain bike is a steel 853 frame. lots of flex. Mike
  4. But in all fairness Usain bolt doesnt have 3 runners in front of him that he needs to get around first before he is able to exploit his full potential. quite honestly, if you not on the first 2-3 rows of the start for the olympics, you wont medal.
  5. A seeding run just like in DHI
  6. Sub Vets as well, at 13Min ahead, thats a ball hair to being lapped!
  7. Yip, XCO definitely tests your top end!!! very different fitness to marathon races. What class did you race? Mike
  8. Yip at the monument, the tracks are low tech skill (for xco level) but are great for a guy looking to join in on the fun. the final event should have a decent level of tech sections that will be challenging and hopefully closer to a national level course.
  9. CGC needs to sort themselves out. they have cancelled the first 2 events (within a few days fo the actual event) so not sure (or confident) that they will actually be able to host a proper series before the end of the season.
  10. Come join us at voortrekker for some of the provincial action, pretty easy track technical wise so good way to ease into the scene. Next national is in Bloem on 18th June, Definitely not "only professional" as the age catergories start from 9 years old all the way through to 60 + years
  11. Do you not mean may?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hey all. I am looking for a good condition Xizang. Medium. Preferably frame only. Please let me know if anyone has one for sale. Thanks.
  13. You can buy them. Evo bikes has them. Enduro bearings overseas has them. Bb30 is 42mm OD. Bb92 is 41. So they machine the bearing shell down to 41. Mike.
  14. My Anthem Adv (Carbon) is 9.7kg with pedals and cage, ready to ride - built for XCO, but Not overly stupid light stuff, built to not break, Full XTR 1x10 DT swiss hubs, carbon rims (1350gr wheelset) Lefty XLR Fork AX Lightness seat and post (only thing I would change if I was to race the epic on this bike) KCNC Bars Syntace flat force Stem Cannondale Hollowgram cranks with BB30 to PF30 conversion bearings Change between tyres for various races (Ikon, Renegade - weighed with these tyres, continental RS raceking) I weigh 62kg so I can get away with light stuff I dont do the carbon bars and stem thing, seen to many broken ones to have faith in it. The lefty coversion steerer tube is heavy (Ally) at 175gr. could drop 75gr there, 75 gr on the bars, and 50gr on the stem. easily seeing me down to 9.5kg but then it would be fragile in my mind. My HT is 8.3kg for comparison. Mike
  15. Hi all. I am down for the week from jhb and was wondering what the safety of Giba is. I'll be riding form hill rest down st helier rd then off the trail down to Giba. Is this a safe route?
  16. I have a BnB descent entry for sale. PM me
  17. Syringes syringes syringes Lets just look at this for a moment. Syringes to bleed brakes, inject oil into forks, lubricate linkages, or ANY other Mechanical reason will: be in a tool box, full of oil n dirt and OUT of a sterile packaging. So either the person doesn't care too much about infection, or It was in a sterile pack, which leads the UCI to the next thought, possible doping. So if he was caught with a syringe and they are "accusing" him of Doping, I would think they know the difference between a toolbox syringe and a syringe for medical use. Mike
  18. Ride it yeasterday. It was about 150m
  19. Who on the hub will be at the first event? I'm going down from jhb. Mike.
  20. What I have found I weigh 61kg (ride MTB) and am a bit of a mountain goat in my climbing. (4.5-5w/kg FTP when on form) I struggle to hold on the flats (power to drag ratio) against the bigger guys. I like a cadence of around 80rpm, but on longer marathon stages Ill try aim for 90, just to save the legs. on the road i try for 95 rpm as it gives me a slightly higher power output for nearly no additional strain on the muscles to try help stay with the bigger guys. Mike
  21. power to weight ratio is all that counts. he with the higher p/w ratio will win, irrispective of body weight or aerodymanic etc. I am talking FTP power on long climbs Mike
