  1. my single speed proto type Ti contraband Ritchey P-29 built to replicate the P-21/23 of the 90’s. But may look SS. But running Rohloff IGH hub.
  2. If you go look on Csa website under Mtb. You will find the std xco time schedule Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Maxxis Ardent skin wall tyres on my retro build
  4. What bikes do you have. My stages on my road bike gives me 30-40w more than my training mountainbike. My road bike is a modern stiff carbon frame. my Mountain bike is a steel 853 frame. lots of flex. Mike
  5. Do you not mean may?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hollowgram cranks and wheelset too.
  7. You can buy them. Evo bikes has them. Enduro bearings overseas has them. Bb30 is 42mm OD. Bb92 is 41. So they machine the bearing shell down to 41. Mike.
  8. My Anthem Adv (Carbon) is 9.7kg with pedals and cage, ready to ride - built for XCO, but Not overly stupid light stuff, built to not break, Full XTR 1x10 DT swiss hubs, carbon rims (1350gr wheelset) Lefty XLR Fork AX Lightness seat and post (only thing I would change if I was to race the epic on this bike) KCNC Bars Syntace flat force Stem Cannondale Hollowgram cranks with BB30 to PF30 conversion bearings Change between tyres for various races (Ikon, Renegade - weighed with these tyres, continental RS raceking) I weigh 62kg so I can get away with light stuff I dont do the carbon bars and stem thing, seen to many broken ones to have faith in it. The lefty coversion steerer tube is heavy (Ally) at 175gr. could drop 75gr there, 75 gr on the bars, and 50gr on the stem. easily seeing me down to 9.5kg but then it would be fragile in my mind. My HT is 8.3kg for comparison. Mike
  9. Syringes syringes syringes Lets just look at this for a moment. Syringes to bleed brakes, inject oil into forks, lubricate linkages, or ANY other Mechanical reason will: be in a tool box, full of oil n dirt and OUT of a sterile packaging. So either the person doesn't care too much about infection, or It was in a sterile pack, which leads the UCI to the next thought, possible doping. So if he was caught with a syringe and they are "accusing" him of Doping, I would think they know the difference between a toolbox syringe and a syringe for medical use. Mike
  10. I thought is was tarred. Except for the river crossing at William Nicol. That section is stone paved. Honestly though. All the sections that are being smoothed out are ridiculous. Like the filled drain at fratellis. The "Ruts filled at the virgin active. Etc It's turning into a bit of a highway. Don't get me wrong I love some of the work the spruit fairy does. I thing some of the single track, jumps and routes are awesome for what he has to work with on the spruit. But it is a mtb trail and as such it should be more off-road than dirt on road. Mike.
  11. Hi All, Does anyone know when and where the African continental champs (xco) will take place? Thanks Mike
  12. Hey guys, So who all competed in Saturdays Rainbow Challenge? I loved the course, found the going tough but good. pity the mud was so sticky.
  13. What an awesome course, really loved the technical stuff. to me, it was a proper xco track. decent climbs, proper tech stuff, not just a gazzilion rocks, but built sections to test your skills. love it.
  14. I totally loved the course, it was hard, climbing didn't seem to let up in the first 25km. and most of the descents were xco style rocky rough singled track. Will be back for rainbow. looking forward to it.
  15. I do service my own bikes. Always have, always will. No bike shop will ever touch my bike.
  16. Looks great. Nice flowing track.
  17. Ok thanks for the info. Helps with tyre choice as I can't bring everything with as I am flying. Sounds like an awesome course. Can't wait.
  18. Hey all. Can anyone tell me a bit about the xco course in Hayterdale? Specifically terrain, rock, sand, loose over hard, wet, muddy etc? it the course tight, technical and slow with short sharp climbs or is it open, fast and flowing? thanks
  19. Ah, ok that makes sense now Thanks
  20. Nope. Service is 50hrs, R700 and every 150hrs it's R1500 So I do about 45-50 hours per month. So month 1 and 2 I spend R1400 on the 50 and 100 hr service. Month 3 I do the 150 hr service at R1500. So for 3 months I have spent R2900. Repeat 4 times for the year and you at about 10-12k.
  21. you kidding. so that means I will need to spend about 12k per year just servicing the shocks!!!
  22. Thanks a million for the response. Looking forward to the race. It's gonna be a blast.
