  1. Mrs C... glad 'Daffy' got the opportunity to meet 'Vinny' yesterday.... you looked got on him. Daffy had a great ride and enjoyed the puddles!!!!!!!!
  2. So sad. I really hope the driver turns themself in... Condolences to his family, friends and cycling buddy riding with him.... not a pleasant experience.
  3. From what I have gathered, the Cederberg is a three day 'epic' out and back to camp each day,,,, not the 2009 Epic. Registration opens in August.
  4. I spoke to Lourens (Willie Engelbrecht Mechanic) this afternoon, and he has not looked at the forum.... I updated him and he is keen to get all these donations down to Cape Town. He is prepared to bring one load down, so I suggested that he tries to find a 'moderator' to collect these items, and then bring a load to Cape Town. He was really chuffed at the support given to Bernard, and will build up another bike for him. If one of you can assist, I do not mind liasing with Lourens & Yourself.
  5. Mrs C... you are just going to love the ride, and especially with MDK.... I don't think you could have found a better partner May your ride be safe, and have fun. Lots of advice have been posted, but just go for it.... I used to hold the bars sooooo tight, that if we fell, hopefully the bike would slow me down!!!!. Enjoy, and please update us all.
  6. HEY..... How dare you start a topic :Go Pedal: I thought I was onto something good..... using my 'Hubber name' in vain. Thanks BMC... also got a bit excited now when I opened the topic.......
  7. Because you are a Kaapie!!!!! Darren is also going well overseas, so yes, glad I am not a selector.
  8. Now.... had that bunch that slowed you down for around 3 mins out of your whole day could have been either a: a horse drawn cart, b: a grader or likes, you would have been happy to sit behind it??? I think so. You are obviously a cyclist, and these guys must have know what they were doing.... I am certainly not a cyclist, but a 'fun rider' and hope that you did not 'bollock' on them....... 3 Minutes... shame on you. Well replied Naas.
  9. I go too slow to fall (Hopefully), and you have a loooong way off before retrenchment/Early retirment. See you on the dirt!!
  10. There were two tandems in the Epic... both finished. Spoke to the one pilot, and he said it was great fun, hard, but manageable.... Guts and more guts....
  11. Het jy die Lotto gewen Pedal? Posted by MARIUS.. Not that I Know of.......... Ha Ha... have decided that life is too short to 'think' about doing these events, age is creeping up, and as I started LATE in life!!!!!! am going for the kill... (PS ...AND it is not from all the Killarney thousands that I made) Retrentchment package from last year.
  12. Was a fantastic show..... down on my calender for next year... just need to find out more details. Great to see the masses as mentioned... was a hoot
  13. Thanks Fanie... (Found yourself a bike yet???)
  14. Klappit, bike wash was an awesome group... thanks for all the 'spray downs' I got in the hot weather. You guys were great.
  15. Erik and Olivier were the youngest entrants at 24/25 years old.... they did exceptionally well, but that is different from a 17/18 year old... I also believe the age limit should be upped to at least 21. Francois, do you know the oldest male and female age for this year?
  16. Common spill the beans...... Must say that I am looking forward to Worlds view in 2009, if this year was anything to go by... awesone racing.
  17. Francois, you did a brilliant job, and glad to see you in the world of MTB... knew there was a reason I changed from doing Road racing work..... I agree that all who rode were above average... guess thats my goal for next year, and I HOPE you will be there to bring me and Jan to the line on every stage. Wow, it gets pretty emotional when watching the back-markers.... and yes, I do agree that those okes do not get enough coverage either on TV or at the nightly awards during dinner. Was thinking that the last team over the line, should line up with the Pros each stage start, and also qualify for a 'latern Rouge' jersey. They certainly would not be in the way of others, as it is only two of them. Thanks Francois, we felt very much at home.
  18. Francois... You did a spendid job, well done. Aren't MTBer's awesome!!!!! See you on the gravel
  19. The only ride I know of is The Great Western Cape Ride.. 9 days, 8 of cycling and a rest day. Did it last year, late november. Cost R4500.00. Around 65 to 80 kms per day.... a FUN RIDE. Mossel Bay to Stellenbosch. You could have a 'tent angel' for an extra R1000 but took my own. Was such a great experience, and got me interested in the Epic... hence that I volunteered. Will find out more, but don't have a phamphlet.
  20. Old Dog... that is the plan, so need to get my mind right and then the training right. Thanks for your comment that it might work!!!!!!
  21. Mackem... no problem, am working on a few more caps for Jason..... will contact you when have them. Bredasdorp start was awesome, and great to be able to get up close to all.... (hope I was not to loud!!)
  22. Sad news. What a way to end a week-end, never be able to tell all how great the ride was.... Condolences to his family.
  23. Mrs C... it ws lovely having you around as well, and yeah, those foreigners were sad to see us go.... and thoroughly enjoyed all the SA food we fed them, especially Boerie !!!!!!!!. Glad you are home safely, and hope Mr C recovers quickly. Start training for next year . . . . . . . . . .
  24. Pops, thanks for coming in to say Hi...... sorry to hear of your fall. Did C50 go the the finish line? Fanie Fiets.... U Rock!!!!!!!
  25. Ha Ha... yes, I think some felt like that.... Bike Park had to load around 5 or so and counting from day two.... crashes, mechanical and human body failures..... some mean crashes.......(32 went on to the last stage) One thing I did not mention, was the awesome 'shopping' experience each evening..... man there were some awesome bikes. Recon the value of the bike park was around 35 mill. and remember some of the top okes, dont park their bikes!!!!!!! We had a Brasilian and Dutch guy working with us, very knowledgeable, and learnt so much re specs and people of fame. You know, on the way home from Lourensford, said to Jan... I feel like I have been out the Country on holiday... Had a blast....pedal2008-04-06 08:38:29
