  1. We didn't just leave you lying there... I managed to snap this picture of you before we left you and went back to jumping.
  2. Tire liners cause more trouble than they are worth. Rather just run slime in your tubes. Or just commit some time and do a ghetto tubeless conversion (tape or split 20' tube).
  3. Ja, Champery is proper steep. The track is a serious wake up call to steep, technical DH! We did one run down and if we never had the current SA Champ with us (who had raced the track the previous year) I seriously would have reconsidered being on the track. We sessioned our way down the hill and managed to make it down without serious incident. I have no idea how the guys race that thing... It is serious business that! Super-morzine was awesome. I recall our 1st run back into town using the route. We were all kind of rattled when we got down. The whites of every ones eyes were very visible but as it became our local run back into twon things got way easier... Then myself and a mate who had spent some time riding the off-piste unmarked trails got cocky and found what we thought was an awesome chute short-cutting a big switchback you do towards the end of the trail. We called it... THE CHUTE OF DEATH!!! it was just a crazy steep straight chute for well over 100m, none of the usual catch berms to control your speed on the way down, just changes in gradient, from fvck off steep to my brakes are sort of slowing me down. I ended up trying to contour out of the CHUTE OF DEATH which was working until I hit a tree. Good times! I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!
  4. I'll have to start keeping better notes while I'm out riding...
  5. okay. thanks
  6. What tire works on the ground conditions you describe above?
  7. It got lost with The Hun meltdown, but'll repost... Everyone knows Slash isn't real. http://www.southpark...1/vunter-slaush http://youtu.be/n3a6pyUlZqU
  8. Just added a WTB Bronson to my bike. Running it on the back. Seems to do the trick (fills with air and rolls nicely along the ground).
  9. Awesome vid! Peach learnt the hard way as to what those little red flags on the edge of some of the jumps mean.
  10. That looks to be the main reason I think. As soon as you're arms and legs stop moving/absorbing the terrain your bikes movements own you. Looks like his limbs were stiff up the take off so the bike bucked him forward as the rear wheel went over the lip. He then went 'dead sailor' and his resulting time in the air was completely uncontrolled. That's my interpretation at least. It's a *** outcome, but hopefully he heals up soon.
  11. Peach will be in the bog box portion of the cab, so you still got dibs on the front seat.
  12. I was under the impression that the Pro 2 Evo's used proprietary bearings, while the Pro 2's used commercial over the counter bearings...
  13. You did a wonderful job. You are allowed to work on your own bike as you please.
  14. That is flippen funny!
  15. Yeah, the owners are a grumpy bunch! Make sure you at least attempt to order in French. 1x The Mutzig made me do it! - Check 1 x 250ml Mutzig glass from Bar Robinson - Check
  16. Nige are you going to run this trail on your AM bike or you going to unleash the fury?
  17. I guess most of the JHB guys are heading to Mankele as it's the same weekend.
  18. Looks excellent. Dave seems to be that Yeti...

  20. Sub-vets : 30 - 39 Vets : 40 - 49 Masters : 50+ I 'think' that is the split.
  21. Thaba DHI Results:
  22. Great pics everyone HUGE Thanks to all who came out to support. The turnout was brilliant and hopefully Gauteng can possibly...maybe...hopefully get a DH series up and running again later this year or next year. Hearing the encouragement and cow bells coming down the track was really cool and helped to kick a little bit more life into already thrashed legs. And again to lastly to Wendell & team (and the land owner), you guys did a fine job creating a challenging track. Thanks
  23. Well this is how we have been getting to the track. I'm not 100% sure if this is still the planned route for this weekend. Yellow is the track.
  24. Trail looks awesome. http://www.pinkbike.com/v/313767/l/
  25. Just to get the details back up here. The event takes place this weekend at the newly constructed Thaba Trails DH track. Wendell and his team did a fine job putting the new track together. Racing happens this weekend (24 - 26 May). The itinerary is as follows: 24 May : Practice 09h00 - 16h00 25 May : Practice 09h00 - 16h00 26 May : Practice 08h00 - 09h30 RACE 10h00 - *14h00 *depends on the number of competitors. Best viewing will probably be for the race itself, but there will be guys on the track most of the weekend. I don't have any pics of the track, but here is some on board (poor quality ) footage of the track. http://vimeo.com/66540374
