  1. Talking of old bands (although not technically a reformation but a rebuild) The The are touring in June and I have just had confirmation of a set of tickets for Bristol in September. Matt Johnson was speaking on BBC6 Music this morning and mentioned he'd been in the business for forty years. It made me feel sooooo ooooold. Definitely revenue streams drying up, downloads/streams are not the income generators hard copies once were. Although vinyl is tapping gently away in the distance once again.
  2. Apparently they (when I say "they" I mean the three that are left after the other two hundred members left after various acrimony) have a new album out. I went to see Robert Palmer at St. Andrews Park in Birmingham some time in the late eighties. He was supporting the cod-reggae superstars. Chrissie Hynde also performed. It was nice to leave early and miss the traffic. I'm not a fan but different strokes etc. I did admire their early political stance.
  3. Where would you need such a thing? On my normal commute the air is so fresh and clean wearing a mask would inhibit the absolute joy of being fewer than one to two hundred metres from the ocean. Was that a brag? Yes it was... However there are a couple of times a year when one of those would be quite useful at protecting the face from buzzing airborne protein. But I'm with Mr B1 on this, any restriction of airflow would be a big negative. Where I am at the moment I've seen a few people wearing the surgical type masks while riding. Although nothing like the unit in your link. They seem to be OK.
  4. Sorry, couldn't help it, the synchronicity with the name. Although there are only two here...
  5. Never read Brighton Rock or seen Peaky Blinders or been to The Races? Horse Racing is certainly not just for the so called Toffs. Brighton Rock is brilliant by the way.
  6. Loosing your keys is probably why you lose them... Sorry. I'm so sorry
  7. DO IT! (Ben Stiller Starsky voice). I've had various Land Rovers for years and only used their (Ravenol's) stuff. It is truly excellent. The autoboxes in the Disco 3 and 4 have benefited hugely according to the experts, Triangle Transmissions, who do my yearly tranny (ahem) checks. I don't trust Land Rover main dealers to carry out necessary inspections on the transmissions so I outsource that part of the servicing.
  8. Ah... YouTube comments the source of all truth. See Adam Buxton, or Sutin...
  9. No worries!
  10. It's the same fix. On Fleabay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Volkswagen-VW-BEW-BHW-BRM-TDI-Intake-Hose-Manifold-Connection-Fix/361237995143?hash=item541b765e87:g:tKwAAOSwax5Yw922&vxp=mtr It'll cost less than a grand and take a couple of weeks or ten days, if you're lucky, to arrive.

  12. You have no f**king idea. You are obviously quoting from the perspective off a Tory Grandee. That awful woman ruined the bargaining power of the worker by illegally destroying the rights of the working man. Strike breaking - using Special Branch, MI5, the illegal gathering of intelligence; intimidating families, even their children. More than three million unemployed, the destruction of the manufacturing sector. So eventually Britain became a financial clearing house or or be more exact an international money launderer. Selling off of state assets: oh yeah Privatisation. I'm sure all of the passengers who regularly try to travel on Southern Rail would testify to that particular abuse of public money. This is completely off topic and for that I apologise. But please do not quote that terrible harridan if you don't add context. Oh, she also took away free milk for kids under eleven years old. 13. Thinking about Mr Strummer today. He is missed.
  14. Here's a rear view. Check out the exhaust. I feel dirty now.
  15. "didn't really help with keeping water out, although it kept me quite warm and is super light and quick drying." I think there's an answer to your question in that sentence. Don't bother trying too hard keep the water out. As long as everything you wear is able to be dried during the day you'll be fine. As for booties I've used them in the past week to keep warm (not in CT) but never whilst commuting in The Fairest Cape©
  16. Is it not just a dream he had whilst in Oz...
  17. Excellent composition and a nice set of flippers.
  18. Had to take my car in today. Unfortunately. At about 0545 whilst driving through Milnerton on the West Coast Road, there were two guys riding in the road all in black with very small rear lights and what looked to me like no front illumination. A Mercedes SLK I think (I don't have much interest in vehicle models) almost didn't see them and had to swerve violently into the right hand lane to avoid an accident. That was the fault of the Mercedes driver due to lack of observation. I'd seen them from a fair way back but my driving position is high. I tried but couldn't get into position to protect the riders. Which I shouldn't have felt the need to do as the cyclists had put themselves in a precarious position, when the perfectly serviceable bike lane is available. This was just after the traffic lights at Broad Road. Luckily no one was hurt but I saw the SLK at the next set of lights and the driver was resting his/her head on the steering wheel. Possibly as a result of the near miss trauma. I don't care if you are a super serious training meister riding in traffic in the dark on quite a dangerous stretch of road is foolish. Once again the no lights brigade out in force. Apologies if this is a bit ranty but these people really piss me off. One criterion to be considered when purchasing lights should be the amount of diffusion i.e. visible light from the side not just front and rear. It would have helped in this situation.
  19. Yup, plenty around this morning and it was misty! Fools.
  20. Good idea!
  21. Noticing lots of cyclists without lights before the sun was up riding along the cycle lane in Milnerton this morning. Probably not commuters. There's not enough natural light for good visibility at 0520 especially with cloud cover. Be careful if you come across any of this lot. The obvious commuters had good lighting. The nutters on the R27 and then going on to take the Lower Church Street exit. I applaud your discipline, speed and visibility. My neurosurgeon gave me the all clear after a battery of tests. Hurrah! I'll be getting a new helmet this week so hopefully back on the bike a couple of times next week. Starting gently.
  22. You lucky fellow (not the first noun I used, but apparently it's a family friendly site and jealousy is an ugly emotion...). Many many happy kilometers (rrrring ding ding; rrrring ding ding ding).
  23. Glad that you escaped. And weren't seriously hurt. Your fitness saved you.
