  1. Have used Continental for tubbies on track wheels (and you don't want the tubby to climb off on the banking at 50+ km/h); other people swear by ordinary contact adhesive, or tape. Have seen some spectacular crashes on the track where tubbies climbed off the wheel when tape was used....
  2. Recently aquired a CAAD5 frame. I'd recommend it to anybody. Don't think the Trek is in the same class.
  3. Not really surprising, but did find this...
  4. Check net eers met die ander mense by die werk of jy nog lewe. Of anders is die kontakte van die transmitter belt droog/vuil.....
  5. But then again' date=' I saw a large group of (I think) City Cycling Club riders (they had "CITY" printed down the side of their shorts) on the weekend passing through Stellenbosch, and they all stopped at a traffic light near the Station, even though there was no crossing traffic.[/quote'] ja Homer , we had just returned from the Pumphouse above Gordons Bay. our policy is to stop at red traffic lights just as any other roade user would. luckily enough were are not a massive club and our groups are only ?20 to 30 strong and we have enough "outoppies" to keep control. btw we got soaking wet on the way home. Yes, I saw the rain starting up just as I passed you on my way into town...the clouds looked kinda unfriendly, figured you might be in for a wet ride!

  7. Normally simply means that the jockey is out of alignment. Have it adjusted. No amount of grease will fix it (Believe me I have been down this road before)
  8. Actually I do. And it is just about nobody. The results are checked weekly, and corrections are made (maybe sometimes not immediately, but eventually)
  9. JB, this is what I do for a living, so don't fret about the variables... and the point of the excersize is that the sloshing liquid stops doing the sealing bit after a while (whilst still sloshing quite convincingly); there is chemistry involved here that I want to have a look at.
  10. Not going to play with the stuff, want to set up a series of controlled experiments to see what influences the liftetime of these compounds. I for one would want to know more or less how long I can trust the gunk to work in sealing a "normal" puncture.
  11. I'm very interested in this topic; I have had at least three slime-filled tubes that have suddenly failed and covered everything in a layer of rust-brown liquid. Now as this stuff is supposed to solidify when exposed to air, I was interested to note that even after three or four days the pools of stuff lying around showed no sign of solidifying. I have also heard of several cases where Stans have done the same thing after a couple of months.
  12. If it's a Sora groupset, then it's probably an OCR 3. I sold my OCR 3 a few months ago for R 2 200 (nclusive of Look pedals and computer and two fairly new rims)
  13. Those horseflies are real buggers...rode into a tree on Sunday and fell over...got up, dusted myself off and then realised the horseflies had made use of the opportunity and was chowing on my calves.... On the plus side, all the bumps make my calves look bigger.
  14. Was 181 about 2 years ago...managed to get it up to 176 going up a 15% gradient on the MTB last week...no spots before the eyes or hissing noises in the ears yet, so I guess it's still around 180 (at age 50).
  15. Ek dog eers dis 'n kraaiveer, nou sien ek dis 'n mudguard. Waar's die bloubul vlag dan?
  16. Right now I believe the actual figure is over 17 000 members, but feel free to disagree (or check with the PPA)....but that's not the point: Regarding the recreational licence (which becomes a reality in January 2008): The PPA pays the R 20 licence fee for each paid-up member. I'm not sure whether they simply pay over the money for all their members (a sort of de facto affiliation fee) or whether they exclude payment for members that take out cyclosport or full licences. (In addition the PPA also pays a certain amount to the CSA per cyclist taking part in an organised funride, not exactly sure what the amount is)
