  1. If there is any sort of payment involved with your prospective deal with Sun International, you will need to throw together a decent proposal. You will need to prove your point, not just from your perspective (ie. a labour of love perhaps). Firstly, are you replying to their RFP (Request for Proposal)? Or is the idea coming from your side? If this is to be a business proposal, you will need to be convincing around who you are, what you do, your proven track record, how it will benefit SI and approximately how much it will cost and how long it will take. A small project plan does not hurt. I write technical (IT) proposals for a living, but leave the business details for the boss to fill in. There are some good examples and templates on the web. Google "RFP proposal template cover letter" and so on. My recommendation is just that you will need to present your proposal and you will need to sell yourself and your idea in a way akin to selling fridges to eskimos. And that is where my weak point lies... I am just too bloody honest to be a salesman! Good luck with the idea, you are more than 50% there if your prospect is an avid mtb'er.
  2. This is an exact copy of the Mavic ad in most cycling magazines.
  3. GoeieGenaade!!!! Ja hy is nogal bright. Vra die tydhouers by die M&B 24hour of hulle al hulle visie terug het! En nou, skakel ons oor na die Ingilse nuus: http://reviews.mtbr.com/blog/category/lights-shootout/ , as mentioned by The Crow, makes for good reading. That is where I discovered the Trailtech light. View the back yard comparison photos and judge for yourself.
  4. http://trailtech.net/SCMR16_helmet_light_kits.html 30W HID for roughly R3500. OK, that was 6 months ago, who knows how much it would be now? I bought the flood lens option. Single-track in front of you remains lit even if you turn the handlebar 90 degrees. Pisses off the riders in front of you, as they can't see where they are going. Battery lasts about 3 hours. Total weight is about 830g. Very robust, solid, well-made.
  5. I can't watch anything with Brosnan without immediately thinking of silly Remington Steele.
  6. I like the feeling of Mr Thomson underneath me bum. Big, black and VERY stiff. Did I mention he's ribbed?
  7. Well I don't know about that one. Since using Squirt I have had to change a chainring or two...
  8. Actually, I have tried various drugs, but find it too expensive. I have to use double dosages because of my size, my pusher did not understand when I explained the problem to him: It's not value for money. He recommended I take up cycling to lose weight. Anyway I have found that I spend more money on the bikes than I used to spend on drugs...BigGuy2008-10-08 07:16:57
  9. Hope you are not on drugs buddy. No silly, Lovely Sunny Day.
  10. Johan, what about all these other ointments such as Q10/20, WD40 etc? Are they any good for road or mtb?
  11. I might have one available in about 2 weeks' time. Very good condition, straight, 30.9, 367mm. Not sure if that will fit the Trek.
  12. Having ridden a Giant XTC for the past year, and recently adding an Anthem to the stable, makes for some interesting comparisons. I have the same front shock and wheels on both bikes. Both are made of aluminium. Both have Shimano XT groupset on, except for the XTC's Juicy 5's. Anthem has a Fox RP23 rear shock. I pump it to 220psi, because I am bigguy. I have been riding in propedal 3 position exclusively to get used to the rear suspention. I will try other propedal and open settings in the future, also sticking to a specific setting for a period of time regardless. My reasoning is to include as many different trails as possible from those that I have ridden in the past, to come to some sort of conclusion what will work best under what condition, for myself. When things get a little bit uneven and rough, the Anthem does not force you out of the saddle as the XTC does. Whether this is a good thing is debatable. I actually like getting out of the saddle, and personally believes that it is better training than just sitting down. Its what you do most during a race when coming out of a slow corner or fast twitchy singletrack. The Anthem will definitely make my LSD rides more productive, it is simply much more comfy when seated. Depending on the raceday surface, it will probably be a toss-up between the two as to which one will handle the course better.

    BIG MAC

And here I was thinking that you plugged the cut in your tire with one of many big mac wrappers you found...
  14. Are all bikes not just repainted Raleighs?
  15. Well, he has to take a shower afterwards for protection...
  16. Show-off! Nice bike, nice seatpost.
  17. There is a race at Northern Farms this Sunday.
  18. Where did you get the battery pack and charger?
  19. I'll check tonight. The seatpost itself is 30.9.
  20. I guess there are only so many stories to tell about how to cycle. I found Bicycling informative when I started up again about a year ago, but now I read Ride and Mountain Biker, simply because they have half decent race reports. The race coverage in Bicycling is almost non-existent. Come on timbrink, there are lots of races locally, lots of people do race. You can double the mag's pages and readers. Or do you not have any say in the matter?
