  1. Well at least I ride an original, un-rebranded Giant XTC, made in Taiwan. Sez so on the sticker.
  2. If you have the R2500 extra IMHO yes. But it will be the start of the end for your XT group!
  3. Long shot. Try to give the chain a good clean and lube. Sometimes the chain's links will make a clicking sound, especially after a lbs service. They clean but do not lube, it seems. It is felt through the crank and pedals, and one could swear it is the BB.
  4. Had a look on http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?modelID=20794, the XT wheels are very well priced at around R3000 (my lbs quoted me R4500), add XT rotors for another R400. The XTR wheelset works out at around R5500 (at above website), which is not bad at all, considering the performance and durability. The Mavic Crossmax SLR is about R8000 (also at above website), the lbs quoted me R11000 for them. Yikes! Looks very nice though, so if you have the money, why not? Mavic Crossmax SL seems to be a better deal though. Personally I'll be ordering the XT wheels soon, to complement the Anthem that Haga is building for me as we type. Very excited!
  5. Looks similar to last year's stuff to my untrained eye.
  6. He will win, because he is genetically gifted. He has enough quality time to prepare. I mean, how much stamina does the Olsen twins have? Not much, glancing at his midriff during the Leadville 100. He should maybe stick to their eating habits, that will surely help. I, for one, will at least watch the telly, I was losing interest.
  7. I think it is that weird guy that dresses up as the devil and chase the Tour de France roadies up the mountains every year. His name is Didi Senft if I recall correctly. He makes these weird bikes as a hobby. There was a picture in one of the recent local magazines where he showed off a guitar bike. Weird. He is obviously not married, got too much time on his hands.
  8. It's easy. Take the one with the biggest tits.
  9. What?! Much fancier than what I've got.
  10. I was thinking of getting a Petzl Ultra headlamp (as a backup) for next weekend's Mugg & Bean 24 hour. Now to get one seems to be more diffiicult than an Olympic medal. The shops tell me to contact the distributor, Eiger Equipment. These guys don't bother to answer emails or phone calls. For more than a week now. I wish I could send a PK via fax.
  11. Now that you mention it, I broke 2 tyre levers this morning getting a Kenda Karma off. Had to use Mammie's fancy dessert spoons to get the job done! Fortunately she does not cycle and will never read this.
  12. Well, it seems, at this rate of inflation (no pun intended), I'll have to spend even more time on the spinning bike, and only leave the real biking for weekends. Talking about spinning, I really enjoy the early morning classes at Sunninghill VA. Especially on Mondays and Thursdays. Always feel like a good puke afterwards.
  13. went to the LBS for a new mtb rear tyre (tubeless). Conti Mountain King 2.2 - R 644 ??? Why? Some others I looked at because I have purchased them in the last 12 months: Maxxis Crossmark 2.1. Purchased a pair of them exactly 12 months ago. R 280 each then. Now R 480!! Kenda Karma 2.1 R 310 in March this year. Now R 410. GEAX 2.1 R 390 in April this year. Now 460. I settled for the Kenda Nevegal 2.1 at R 370 simply because they were the cheapest on the rack. Did not get any discount with my CycleLab membership card as I was told that it was already a good price. WTF?! It's the price on the item! Thanks guys.

  20. MAYBE YOU MTB MOFFIES MUST FIRST LEARN TO CLIMB BEFORE TRYING TO RAG THE ROADIES' date=' THE AVE ROADIE IS A HECK OF A LOT STRONGER TANH THE AVE MTB MOFFIE[/quote'] Maybe, but you drafted on the smooth downhill and flat.
  21. (hushed voice please, we're in the bush) the lesser? spotted roadie can be found way out in front right from the start of the race , soon encountered pushing his bike up the first rocky climb... also brakes a lot on the rocky descent. Does not frequent the water crossings, and moers his water wrappers at the side of the trail. Hit me you roadie scum drafting bootie granny-ring bastards.
  22. you're right. everyone knows i look better without it. wanta see a pic? Of your roly holler?
