  7. 4 hours, including two stops to drink the beer we brought, as well as a burger stop on the Krugersdorp highway garage
  8. Anton Smal from Cycle house. On stage 5 of the cape pioneer this year, we basically started rode in rain and mud the whole stage. Like everyone else, I had no brakes left, as in F*kol (front, only base plate that was almost worn through, rear nothing, just the pistons) He made brake pads out of Coffee tin lids at waterpoint 2 for me so I could finish the race If it wasnt for him, I would probably withdrawn or ended up in a bush somewhere. Thats legend in my eyes.

  12. maybe it is the pads. Metal last longer but screech. Resin is less durable, but quiet Maybe thats the problem

  14. Dude. It was a nightmare yesterday. My brakes were so gone we had to fold coffee tin lids with pliers and put in the calipers so I could finish the last 35km but was lucky enough to finish and what an awesome event

  17. It was better than previous year in the sense that we did not have that long stretch on the currogated road. But R200 for 40 km, nah... I think this one will die in a few years. Too far for me from Pta for a one day for just 40km @ R200 Rather do babbas lodge then But really enjoyed the singletrack

  22. Man, I had bad luck On the saartjies nek climb I broke my chain and in the process of fixing it lost my only quicklink. A good samarathan named I think Lourens gave me his. Thanks man, I really hope Karma gets back to you on that one Then on the descent towards waterpoint #3 I got a huge sidewall cut and again a samarathan gave me a spare tube, but alas, it was not meant to be and I punctured that as well. (26" in a 650b does not work that well) Ended up walkint the 6k's to the start and got a lift from a farmer for the last 1k Oh well, was still better than sitting at home on the couch! Lesson learned: Dont be complacent and leave half of your spares at home!!! be prepared for anything
