  1. I will have to dig deep!
  2. To be honest I'm not sure yet but hopefully in about 14 hours. I mean 15 hours.
  3. First upload your images to a site like Flickr, then each image you uploaded has its own url that you can either copy and paste into the "image" tool (it looks like a pic of a tree below the smiley face when replying) or once you uploaded the pic, simply copy and paste the image in the reply box and hit post.
  4. Sigh, don't think I can continue with LCHF due to cost. I've had an itch to upgrade to a carbon frame on my road bike for quite some time and I set my teeth into a frame today. Although nothing has been finalised, it is something I never thought I'd own and is going to leave a crater in the pocket! Okay, I'm not really going to discontinue but I am rather excited. Back on topic, I was looking through our pantry this morning and was actually shocked by the amount of foods that contain wheat or soy. I myself also started avoiding mielies since the start of LCHF.

  6. I don't see why not, we do it every now and then. It is quite open alongside the road so you can see if anyone is approaching. EDIT: sp
  7. It is very important to blend the fat shake as I learnt last week. I usually just stirred everything until melted but was hardly palatable. I blended it for the first time last week after 6 weeks of fat shakes and Bulletproof coffee (http://www.bulletproofexec.com/category/coffee-2/), blending it is the difference between rib-eye steak and bully beef!! W.r.t. the fat shake, avoid the flaxseed oil as it completely ruins the taste. And like htone said, incrementally increase your fat intake - especially in one sitting.
  8. I picked up a set of Formula R1's not too long ago for a friend, the only contents of the box were the brake set as above. And those are R4k brakes. So were you ripped off, no. Were your expectations met, no. Did you ask enough questions before ordering, no.
  9. He said it is a full sus, he must be running this setup and besides, roadies are resilient b@stards. http://www.cannondaleanswers.com/files/2012/05/headshokultra.jpg
  10. Clearly someone saw "3M" and thought; "must be 3 million dosh." Would be very naive to think that someone would risk putting so much cash out in the open.
  11. It's definitely a shaft-drive. Check below, they either run the drive shaft through the chain stay or the chain stay is the drive shaft. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VW8jqZ5ph-g/T0KlHuGgA4I/AAAAAAAAAIQ/gdXhQzjQxHs/s320/1899-Columbia-Model-59-Shaft-Drive-Bicycle-3.jpg
  12. Eggs are equal in fat and protein weight wise. An XL Free Range egg is 6g fat, 7g protein but calorie wise it is 33% from protein and 67% fat. Roughly Honey, as good as it may seem is majority Fructose and due to high glycemic index spikes blood sugar. (You want to avoid spiking blood sugar.) EDIT: 300g of beef is about 45g of protein. But to alter what htone said, it should be 1.2-2g per kilo of goal weight, not current weight.
  13. AM ketones, what AM ketones? Haha, trace amounts.
  14. That is my current worry, 369km is a far way to go. Hopefully not alone either, should be able to tie up with other riders along the way. I just have no idea how to pace myself accordingly.
  15. I was really proactive, first person to enter this years Desert Dash. This will by my first 24hr race so I am pretty keen.
  16. I enjoyed it so much that I ate the entire 300g pack. Talk about filling!
  17. On tonight's menu, bacon brussel sprouts as per Mark Sisson's recipe - http://www.marksdailyapple.com/bacon-brussels-sprouts-with-brown-butter-vinaigrette/ Will be the first time in my life to ever eat them!
  18. I'm pretty sure that the nut is irrelevant. In all cases you stick it in a blender/food processor and grind it up leaving you with the nut butter. Just as long as you roast the nuts beforehand to reduce the amount of some acid in the nut. Is it phatic acid?
  19. @PAK Pretty much what you said, we measure excess ketones in urine. I was just reporting back on what happened. I actually don't know why I put that last part in of "I don't know what to make of it."
  20. Reporting back on my Greek yoghurt recovery meal yesterday. @ 17:30 I had 120g with cinnamon as well as some coconut oil in coffee. then had dinner with half a gemsquash and broccoli and cauliflower. I tested after dinner last night and there was NO ketones present whatsoever. But was back to ++ this morning.
  21. Haha, maybe. But I do agree with you on the PUFA front.
  22. Defo sarcastic considering it followed this "But surely using Coca Cola instead of drinking water couldn’t possibly have made all these Mexicans obese? After all, Coca Cola is part of the solution to the obesity epidemic. Their commercials say so all the time and they even educate dietitians about it."
  23. You obviously mean 24/8?? Anyway, that is 15-20min away from my place. So count me in.
  24. I'm still "recovering" from my cheese fondue Saturday night although Sunday morning I tested trace but by lunch time I was at + and I've been testing ++ since yesterday (Monday) morning. All is looking good, was happy with this mornings reading as it was a shade over ++ and yesterday was the largest amount of carbs that I've eaten in the last 7 weeks. It was in the region of 35-40g, 8g at breakfast, about 15g at lunch which included flax seeds and pumpkin seeds and at dinner I had a whole gemsquash and a generous serving of broccoli and cauliflower. I haven't ridden since Saturday's 4h40 double loop at SBR but I did do some core last night. To answer your question, I'm okay as is and will see how the legs feel on my ride later today. I'm also going to eat some double cream greek yoghurt as recovery with cinnamon and see what that does (probably no effect as stated by Attia.) Supplementation, as far as Flaxseed oil goes, I take a 1300mg capsule daily (1g PUFA) and then 2 1000mg O-3 capsules as well plus a Magnesium tablet.
  25. Quick question, what does it mean if dietary fibre is higher than total carbs on a nutrition label? That there is more carbs that they let on (ie net carbs) or..? I'm referring to Woolworths frozen Petit Pois (peas) which are 5g carbs, 1.5g sugars and 9.4g fibre per 100g.
