Unfortunately it seems Dirtopia believes in FIFO when it comes to their rules. With the ATTA, a much nicer organised race, it was no problem for Carel and them. They wanted to help! Has the illness got anything to do with the unplanned dismount suffered last week?

I would really appreciate your help in this one. I urgently need some caps as well and my LBS's cannot help me. I cannot find the Series code but the Ultegra rear derailleur is coded RD 6500. Does that help in any way? I can also MMS you a photo of the caps if required. Thank you

Just to get you guys to worry a bit more.... I had a rather nasty fall this last weekend and destroyed of my beautiful Uvex! Now, no more supplier in SA, overseas guys don't come back to me, so what am I to do? After a lot of research I have gone to CWC and Chris (Jnr) has sold me a new Rudy! Not to cheap, but a good price considering all the options. After what I have just gone through my advice would be, replace when you should and spend the extra coupe of rands, just in case.....

Then you have to ask why white cycling pants on a MTB event!!!!!

I just went for my first long MTB ride, 92km,after the TransBaviaans. I have been riding on and off since the race but nothing serious, should mention we rode a good TB in our books, 13h30. I suffered a nasty wound due to a fall on the TB and this resulted in some rather bad infection, which resulted in 2 sets of "heavy" antibiotics in the last 3 weeks. This morning's ride turned our to be a real shocker, ave speed 23km/h, rolling hill ride. My heartrate spiked all over the place with the end result being an ave HR of 78%! I feel absolutely blown, as if I'm new to this sport and just got my backside kicked all over the place! Can this major fatigue and high HR be due to the antibiotics, infection still being around, or just plain having lost fitness? Please help with some advice as I have got a 3day race in 2 weeks!

Seat was and is great, good setup. All 4 of us battled with the shorts, all of us have good setups.

We just completed the 2010 Transbaviaans as a 4man team within a quite respectable time. Our kit this year included riding with the First Ascent Revolution Bib Shorts. Unfortunately this product does not live up to expectations of being able to look after your tender bits over a lengthy ride. Maybe it is good for 100km rides, but not ultra ones!

Flowta, do you know of anybody who would be able to do this for me? I'm guaranteed to stuff the lights up so I need someone who actually can do this type of thing properly!

This thread clearly shows the diversity of opinions relevant to this sad event. Let us just get back to the facts. Read the newspapers this morning and you will note the savage nature of the crime. 1) ET was hacked to death 2) in his bedroom 3) after entry was gained unlawfully. The suspects were not picked up at his home as earlier noted but somewhere in the district. NOW, take the ET factor out of the equation. It is another farmer murdered on his farm, making him one of the statistics the ANC refuses to acknowledge in their actions. It is another farm murder, one of nearly 3000 in the last coupe of years. The ANC says we are overreacting and the stats are not as high, but they also refuse to divulge the numbers. At the same time they allow Julius to sing "struggle" songs so does this mean we are back to the struggle? What is the justification for the ruling party to allow actions of the struggle to continue but we as whites, and other minority groups, must mind our place, watch our vocabulary and allow senseless murders, rapes and assaults to continue whilst Julius sings about it?! The ANC needs to step up to the plate and take a stance on this crime ridden society. Shut Julius and his followers up, get really hard on violent crime and give everybody the opportunity to enjoy their place in the sun. This is what was expected of the previous regime before they gave the reins over, why then is our current generation unable to guarantee our kids their future safety?

Is this not where CSA must actually jump in and produce some action on behalf of all the cyclists whom are forced to belong to them? I know it is too late for all those fellow cyclists whom have paid with their lives, but why can CSA not start spending our monies on making the public more aware of our rights as cyclists? It is truly a sad day for cycling, but this forum in its current format will not change anything. We need a combined and unified voice out there to tell our authorities, to demand from our authorities, that this kind og thing MUST stop. I can only sympathise with the families of those who lost their lives this morning and ask that we all be more vigilant on the roads to prevent becoming a statistic.
