Conditions must have really been tough, but agreed, they should have had an alternative route worked out. ****, I hope the Sani doesn't get cancelled like that!
I would love to know how they did the draws for this 3rd race? We were relatively high up on the waiting list (which was also a farce with the whole registration f'up) and then we miss the selection for this race as well? And this when guys who were also on the wait list, close to us, got theirs? This just seems a race that I wont be doing, not because of ability, but because of IT!!!!
- better identification of support vehicles with team numbers clearly visible on the support vehicles to ensure that support vehicles stick to the rules and to ensure that unauthorised vehicles do not enter the check points. (some teams had up to 4 cars at checkpoint 4, resulting in cars having to park for over 1km down the road resulting in teams having to cycle all the way back to their cars, into oncoming traffic to get to their support cars. NO MORE SUPPORT CARS DURING THE RACE! The 20 teams that have these vehicles make things very difficult for the other 350 teams just so that they can enjoy not having to plan around crates. Stop it, it is just not necessary.
I find this silence re this past event rather weird, odd, even scary for THE HUB. I thought someone would be complaining about something?? Well, all I want to say is that this was one b1tch of a race! TransGrootrivier seriously kicked a couple guys in the teeth. Great challenge, but NO to this being the route every year. I'll take my chances with buffalo and rhino before I have to climb the new BMAC!!!
The system is fundamentally flawed in that new riders automatically get put in the waiting list queue. It makes a mockery of their whole story about everyone having a fair chance. Coupled with a IT meltdown the big word is "F...UP"
