  1. I could almost set my watch by something going a little pear shaped at 28kms at one stage... was definitely my bogey number. A lot will have to do on how well prepped you are, but for a lot of us we jump from halfs to full marathons without much of a transition between, so the body starts throwing lots of red flags at you when it realizes you're busting out of your comfort zone. It's one of the reasons I love running 32km races... it's just such a nice distance for me. Far, but without the drama the last 10km's of a marathon inevitably throws at you
  2. Nice little pull out towards the east of Joburg we use for club runs occasionally... Nice quiet street as well as there is a boom at the bottom https://www.strava.com/segments/6919719?filter=overall
  3. Hahaha... this is sadly the truth (well for your team mates at least)
  4. Again, you're using a single point of reference... the league, where our paper thin squad, playing most of the season away from home stumbled into the Champions League positions ahead of you. We were clearly distracted by that little Champions League thing, where our runner up position equals your very best exploits in the same comp. If you believe our teams are on par, then good luck to you... I think you will find 90% of rational persons would pick a huge majority of Spurs players in a combined team, I actually struggle to even think of an Arsenal player I would actually covet. I guess Aubamayang would be nice to bring off the bench in a stretched game but that's about it.
  5. And you do realize you haven't won a league in what will very soon be two decades - that's also a very long time. I never denied your clubs history, we also have our fair share of history. Bottom line though, your club is a long long way from it's glory days and we're also not the Spurs of old. Let's not turn this thread into a little bickering match - we can all respect each other and throw about a bit of banter, but let's keep it friendly and on track.
  6. It's definitely good work if you can get it... They've had a few players on half a million a week, so it wouldn't surprise me too much. Not sure Bale want's to go there though... I think he has a point to prove to a few folk in Madrid.
  7. Yeah, ideally you want your whole squad together for pre-season... especially with the training regime Poch throws at these guys. Anyone that arrives late usually has a quiet first season and then is adapted by season two... seen it several times. Our chairman though for some reason loves the late transfers... seems to see value there. I believe Sessegnon is the long term replacement for Rose, we're offering 25mil for a player who got relegated and didn't really set the world alight, and Fulham apparently want 45. It will hopefully get over the line soon, but that is a big gap in price to close. And even if we sign him, he's not the ready made article yet.
  8. Rose has been looking for a big pay day for a while... he's a good player, but I sense he's a bit of a problem in the dressing room and in the media. If he goes though, it's another good solid first teamer that needs replacing.
  9. Shame, did that hit a nerve Well done Szczsney... some impressive and not so impressive trophies while sitting on the bench 90% of the time. Poor old Kane will have to make do with being a household name, good enough to start for pretty much any team in the world along with two premiere league golden boots and a world cup one on the sly... World cup semi and Champions League final already and he's barely even hit his prime Arsenal though is where it is at... just ask your captain who is so desperate to leave or your best player who walked on a free
  10. Always good to see the youngsters on the fringe getting some action... apparently our young Irish striker Parrot looked good and Skipp had a great game in midfield along with a young CB Tanganga. Always a nice bonus if you can pull good players in from the youth setups, especially when you're paying off a shiny new stadium. Pretty worried about our full back situation... Trippier out and Rose apparently also been given the green light to find a new team. Hopefully Poch has a plan though
  11. Gen, how you like that Harry Kane winner... even more sweet that it’s over big mouth Szczesny formerly of the gooners https://www.caughtoffside.com/2019/07/21/harry-kane-tweets-about-goal-vs-juventus/ Sounds like it was a really good game.
  12. Maybe have a look at Frostys plan up to his first 21km... was pretty rock solid and if you follow it through it should put you in a position to definitely hit sub 2:20
  13. I'm going to be focused on riding for the next few months (have TransBav in a month and a bigger goal later in the year), but have started doing a bit of cross training as such... class called the Grid at Virgin. Done two so far, enjoying them and can tell they're hurting me in places I haven't worked on in ages - hopefully will weigh up to me being a stronger more balanced athlete and all round runner when I start heading back out on the road... Back's still a bit of an issue, but heading in the right direction slowly
  14. To answer the bold bit... he moved in the dodgiest of circles. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
  15. Thanks for the feedback
  16. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/368215-orange-on-one-inbred-medium-ss/ Pricing on this realistic fellas? Not had too much interest... not in a rush either though so don't want to drop it just for the sake of it. Owner doesn't even remember what he paid for it, but looking at similar ads for this bike posted here in the past I got to this price
  17. Yeah, I did some reading... NC not the be all and end all for me. I also can't justify throwing too much money at this. Also weighing up if I rather look in Dubai when I pass through there this weekend... but this looks a steal all things considered
  18. Not noise cancelling, but look a great deal and probably plenty good enough for my uses... https://www.takealot.com/sennheiser-hd-4-40-bluetooth-headphones/PLID46575631 Any thoughts?
  19. Sounds good... Would also love an update on our girls if anyone perhaps has one?
  20. And most people are getting royally fleeced
  21. Really wish I hadn't seen this
