  1. As for the ratios, I would say a normal crank (53-39) mixed with a 11-28 casette would be fine for you. Otherwise a compact crank and a 11-25 casette combo would be slightly easier for climbing. As mentioned by the guys above, on a new bike, you should be able to request the gearing to suit your needs.
  2. The Giant SRC has low end specs... Depending on how much you plan on riding, I'd suggest paying a bit more and getting better components (such as the mid range Shimano 105) or even buying a second hand bike from the Hub classified.
  3. This is a very open ended question... Do you come from a MTBing background and if so how often do you use the granny gear (smallest front crank), what do you weight and how do you feel about climbing a long climb on a bicycle... All these would give us a clearer picture on the topic
  4. I'm back in action again and keeping an eye out for walls on descents... Thank goodness my crash was on a non-fake bike
  5. Has ASG weighed in on this topic as yet? Imagine the damage this fake bike fiasco could do to their Pinerello brand...
  6. If all else fails just Google "live streaming cycling". Works everytime!
  7. I must be honest (and maybe it's all in my head), but the handling, climbing and all round feel of the Nano feels leagues above my old SuperSix (which was a fantastic bike in its own right). Makes sense yeah. I've heard that the Nano strips weight with nano ballistic carbon being used in areas with low stress points, such as the horizontal tube. I guess for pro racing weight purposes, you would rather have weight on the cross tube than under the seat which would disrupt the low center of gravity.
  8. Someone should indeed report this to Carte Blanche. There is a section on their website to report such things.
  9. Thanks 'Dale & thanks for giving me no option but to buy another Cannondale Tell me guys, what frame does the pro Cannondale team ride with? As far as I can see, its the Evo Hi-Mod and not the lighter Nano. If that's the case, why would that be? The Nano dipping too far below the legal weight limits?
  10. For sure! Ciolek will be the man for the sprints with Meintjies giving the famously steep Vuelta hills a good go.
  11. Fantastic news that MTN Quebeka have been given the nod! All the best lads!!!

Attacks over through the mud and over the cobblestones... Looking forward to it! BTW. I assume Supersport are once again not showing this great race?
  16. Agree with Dracs post here... Enjoy the race and hope its the first of many more for you

    Come on Spartacus!!!
  19. In future I'm only going to cycle clockwise around Kyalami as well
  20. Where about in the East Rand? If you are close to Edenvale, I'd highly recommend the Edenglen club rides. PM me if you want more info.
  21. The Jock nowadays is very similar to stage 3 of the Panorama Tour... Lot's of climbing indeed
  22. I'm going to try attack the KOM segment from my lounge to the beer fridge...
  23. You can never write off an Adrian Newey car!
  24. As mentioned already, cycling lanes are a must in Gauteng... This would not only benefit "recreational" cyclists such as the majority of people on this forum, BUT especially benefit commuters. In the UK, the government is so keen to promote people cycling to work, that they give you tax refunds when buying a bicycle if you can prove you will ride to work. In Johannesburg, it's not only near impossible to commute, but extremely dangerous!
  25. Okay then, I expect Vettel to win in the wet this season no matter what the performance of his car is
