There was a sub-3 bus and we were all together until Witkoppen when it splintered. All 7/8 riders got sub-3s though.

Guys, that was an interesting day. I did the pacemaking for quite a big group of i groupers (from the start to Joe Slovo) but the "problem" comes in in that the riders from other groups jump in and it became a group of 30-40 by Joe Slovo and despite waiting, there were only about 8 of us that regrouped among the masses. Then at the bottom of Witkoppen I had a mechanical and told the guys to go ahead, and between that and the crowds, I only saw Pieter again while playing catch up. Well done to all though! Ps. Hayley, I couldn't even spot that flouro helmet of yours in the crowds post start, sorry about that

See you tomorrow guys. Out of interest though, what is the higher priority of this group: 1. Getting say 30-40 riders a sub-3 2. Getting the majority of the group a good time ever if a sub-3 is sacrificed in the name of keep the group together? I'm just here to help and cool with whichever ????
  6. What about the weather guys? I hear North Island (Auckland) is far better than the South, but still not great?

If thats the case, watch out for head/cross winds for the first half of the race (and Cedar / Lion Park). It also means, your N1 S/Woodmead Drive echelon would need to pass on the right and pull off onto the left (with the wind blowing from the left front).

Guys, so I've been man-down with a virus for the last three weeks and only feeling human again now. As a result, I'm not going to be racing licensed with the team and was thinking of just riding for for the love of the sport and all that. This group and its morale looks great and assuming I'm okay to ride come Sunday, I'd love to help out you guys out with some echeloning/pacemaking/and such.

    Good post.
  11. Looks amazing! Are they also available with solid front forks?
  12. I've thoroughly tested this device and although I have no doubt that this technology will replace HR chest straps in the future, they still have some way to go. Firstly, it is NOT as accurate as a chest strap and the battery is significantly less than 8 hours. And secondly, the new Apple Watch as well as the Tom Tom have the same laser technology and would therefore most probably prove to be more feasible options. Finally, it is worth mentioning that if you have a weak pulse, "laser HR monitors" will experience far more inaccurate low readings than a chest straps and I've also heard rumours that wrist tattoos affect the accuracy of readings. OTHERWISE, its a convenient and nifty little device that will prove useful to more casual cyclists. and the Bluetooth to ANT+ bridging feature is great if you looking to sync a cadence sensor to your phone etc.
  13. R89 for 8 cups of cappuccino: http://www.takealot.com/nescafe-dolce-gusto-cappuccino-coffee-capsules/PLID28058197 R89 for 16 cups of Cafe Au Lait http://www.takealot.com/nescafe-dolce-gusto-caf-au-lait-coffee-capsules/PLID28058209
  14. It will be interesting to see what the entries are like after the great organisation of having this and Amashova on the same weekend. Also good to see that ASG are whoring out the entry process by pushing ASG products on you at every mouse click... **Sarcasm off**
  15. Yeah I hear you, the cheapest you can find them now is R89 for 8 (or R89 for 16 if you like the strong coffees).
  16. By the way, that "special" isn't great. I got my machine for free in Switzerland after buying two boxes of refills for what was effectively R160.
  17. I must say that despite the Dolce Gusto pods being a bit pricey, I do LOVE THEM. That said, I wish Dolce Gusto would bring the unsweetened pods into the country. I have to ship them from Europe myself as I generally don't use sugar in my coffee.
  18. True, true! I think it could do with one more GC climber... As you say, a Louis replacement.
  19. Way to early to call and apparently there are more singings coming, but I'd say the strongest GC tour would be: Mark Cavendish Mark Renshaw Bernard Eisel Omar Fraile Edvald Boasson Hagen Steve Cummings Daniel Teklehaimanot Jacques Janse van Rensburg Reinardt Janse van Rensburg
  20. True, although looking at that list, I don't see many South Africans making the 2016 TdF starting nine.
  21. So for 2016 we have: Youcef Reguigui Johann van Zyl Jaco Venter Jay Thomson Songezo Jim Nic Dougall Daniel Teklehaimanot Merhawi Kudus Natnael Berhane Jacques Janse van Rensburg Reinardt Janse van Rensburg Edvald Boasson Hagen Steve Cummings Tyler Farrar Serge Pauwels Kristian Sbaragli Mark Cavendish Mark Renshaw Bernard Eisel Nathan Haas Omar Fraile
  22. A real pr*ck, and a cheat among cheats, HOWEVER he was the greatest cyclist ever!!
  23. Correct yes. Thats why in past seasons (when there were more than 18 teams applying for the limited 18 licenses), once a rider announced he was leaving, the team would effectively drop him for the remainder of the season in order to not let him gain points for the new team.
