  1. If a dog attacks me while on my bike I will do the same as when a Spaniel ran out of his gate a couple years back and bit my dog that was on a leash. I will get something to protect myself with, and he will eat a liquid diet for a couple of months. It is his owners responsibility to keep him from harm, by not letting him attack other people and animals. It is my responsibility to protect myself and my animals.
  2. Ja but thats assisted pedaling so it doesn't count. Also, are you allowed to wear lycra on an e-bike?
  3. Ok awesome, thanks for that. Will keep it in mind. I just don't know man, I feel it is a bit unnecessary to give be a dry bite, so biting me just for the case off biting. How about no. Just leave me alone. I once saw a molslang coming out of a hole in the ground at Meerendal, looked like a steel rod rising out of the ground, until I saw its tongue, and let me tell you this: there is no way that snake was more scared of me than I was of it. No way. I literally screamed like a girl, and started shaking on my bike. Absolutely kakked my bibs.
  4. Never. The trails are for okes that pedal their bikes.
  5. If you are climbing a piece of single track, and a rider on an E-bike keeps shouting "track" behind you, will you give way?
  6. Why man, why do you do this? I need to know that it's ok and I wont see any snakes if I go early.
  7. Ok awesome, that was my thinking as well. The earlier you get going the less chance of encountering a danger noodle. Only ever seen a snake in the heat of day as well. So I'll be the guy standing outside the trails waiting for sunrise.
  8. What time of day have you guys seen the most snakes?
  9. I can understand that, its not cool. Especially the lady presenter at the stage who kept saying things like "come on girls, enjoy the race, this is all just for you. You are the special guests this weekend, this weekend is about you." I though it was stupid, and obviously full on all about the marketing with the organisers trying to up interest in their event from the ladies in SA.
  10. Quick race report from my side: Did my 2nd W2W this weekend, and I still think it is a great long weekend of riding your bike. I did feel the trails were not in the same great shape as they were back in 2015, but then again, try building single track yourself during a drought and you will see its not easy. throw in some nutsacks dragging their back tyres around every berm, and the trails wont look great. Pros: - Lekker vibe, good food, diverse routes that gives you something of everything without being too hard, decent bike wash and bike park, decent mattress and big enough tent, friendly staff and fellow riders Cons: - Just too expensive (in my opinion), too many participants (will probably only bother you at the rear end of the race). If you complained about the food, you are full of ****. I'm a vegetarian, and there was more than enough food even for me, and it was all tasty. Yes, the Spur burger and chips is not nice, but then dont eat it. The lunch that the organisers provides is sufficient. Also, at the waterpoints you had bananas, banana loaf, jelly babies, watermelon, oranges, potatoes, bar ones, and so on (admittedly not everything at every water point), but there was enough to get by. I skipped the second nights price giving and talk about sponsors because I find it annoying, so I went to go and relax in the chill zone, talk *** with my friends and eat chocolates I brought along. Great evening. Will I do it again if I have to pay for myself - probably in 3 or 4 years. If someone else pays I will be there again next year. Edit: One thing I will complain about is the lack of shower facilities at the end, as said above. Not good enough, and we washed with a tuinslang at the bike wash, which wasn't too bad considering the heat.

    Snakes

Why do I even keep opening these threads.
  15. Like my wife and my wallet.
  16. That is actually incredible.
  17. Ok, new plan: get football style shin guards for both the shin and calf areas.
  18. My new plan is that if I am riding with a mate, I will always let him go first down the single track, because"you are faster and I want to follow your line". Then stay about 20 meters back, and take it easy while he faces the snakes.
  19. Why say that.
  20. I once saw a molslang or something at Meerendal, almost shat my pants and literally almost cried. Never want to experience that again.
  21. God, man, having kids myself this just about breaks my heart. Sorry that you have to go through this. All the best.

`Noooo, thats terrible nes. He was by far the favourite, in my opinion. But hopefully now my favourite can pull it through - all chips on Lionel Sanders.
  23. Just want to say thanks to the advice on here regarding seeing a specialist after my crazy knee pain. I tried to self-diagnose, but when to see a physio after all. Seems like it was actually a problem waiting to happen for a long time, and the higher intensity running just pushed it over the edge. I have a bit of a structural problem with my legs bending slightly to the outside when I (try to) put my knees together, and obviously that puts a lot of pressure on the inside of the knee. Busy with rehab, stretching and strengthening of especially the glutes. Went for a 2km run on Monday and almost couldn't walk on Tuesday - that after 2 weeks rest. Anyone who overcame something similar? And any advice once more? Funny thing is it is almost as if my right upper leg stays in spasm - have had dry needling and very deep tissue massages for two weeks in a row now, and afterwards the knee pain feels 70% better, only to return again the next day.

Agree, it caught my eye as well now. The "normal" Kona is not available in SA, right?
