  1. Yeah, you're right. Probably the best idea, I'm just in denial still.
  2. Need some advice please... After a decent run last week Saturday and a hard bike session on the trainer the following day, I went for another run on Monday evening. My right knee started feeling a bit sensitive on the Monday evening, but I still went for a 11km speed session early Tuesday morning. After a quick shower and getting dressed, I could hardly walk from the pain, and after reading over the following days I self diagnosed myself with runner's knee (PFPS). My injury literally fits all the descriptions I could find, and it manifested over night - obviously it has been coming on for a while I guess. I took the Wednesday and Thursday off from running and cycling, and just went swimming, which really eased the pain almost immediately. Went for a run on Friday and felt no pain, but on Saturday morning I couldn't run more than 20m again. Decided to take 5 days off, and try again on Thursday. Is there anyone who has any advice wrt to treating this? I've been doing squads to strengthen my quads (starts to hurt my knee eventually), and I'm following a stretching routine daily. Anything else, except rest? PS. I went to a specialised shoe shop, and got my running style analysed before buying shoes - I'm 99.9% sure they are the right shoes for me, and I've been running in them for a couple of months now.

Fantastic, thank you. Will def start doing that from tomorrow morning. How many speed work sessions should I do per week? Something like this, all the way up and until I start a program for IMSA? - Tuesday: speed work session - Wednesday: 30 min brick at race pace - Thursday: 30 min zone 2 - Friday: speed work session - Saturday: 30 min brick at race pace - Sunday: 120 min LSD run, zone 2

Thanks! I'm not sure where to progress to next with my running. I've slowly built up my mileage over the past 5 or 6 months, and I'm doing between 60 and 70 km a week now. My whole idea was to build slowly, build a big base, and go on from there. Now, the target is IMSA next year, but I took your advice earlier in this thread to "become a runner" seriously, so that's where I'm heading. Currently I do all my running in comfortable zone 2, at 6:00 to 6:20 min/km. As I say, the idea was to slowly build a big base, and then start working on pace. Longest run atm is about 15km, and sometimes I'll do another 5km later in the day to bring the daily total up to 20km. I feel fine after this, and can easily do another 10km first thing next morning. I do about 150 - 180m of climbing in a 10km run. How, and more important when, would you suggest I start doing some speed work? I want to be doing 60 - 70km a week at about 5:00 to 5:15 min/km by the end of September this year - is this feasible? Or should I just keep going at zone 2 for another couple of months and then start doing weekly speed work?

How many running km's a week are you looking at doing for the next say 12 weeks? And will you do any speed work for now?

    Cricket......

I think guys like us can easily talk about the pride of playing for your country, etc etc, but when you are confronted with that kind of money it will be hard to say no (assuming you are, like me, not an international sports person guy). AB received R22 mil for only this years IPL, the tyre company that sponsors his bat paid him something like R28 mil for 3 years, a sponsorship he surely only got because of his exposure in the IPL. I mean, come on... According to Google AB's net worth is around $20 million. Edit: Politics? Oh yeah, my first thought as well, but I know less than nothing about the inner workings of cricket and the politics there.

Unless he thinks it is a waste of time, because there is no way he can see SA winning the WC next year.
  12. Funny stuff, I find it quite interesting.
  13. Probably the best advice we received before getting married was to "manage your expectations". Be realistic of what you expect from your partner, and communicate it. Don't expect to be spoiled rotten on your birthday, but when asked about what you want to do say things like: "ag, whatever, don't worry too much about it, lets just do something nice together.". Your partner is a person, with all the limitations of one. Manage your expectations and be realistic.
  14. Sounds like my kind of church.
  15. Can be, but I must say that I have both bought and sold road and MTB's on the Hub, sold a trainer and a training watch, bought another trainer, and I cant remember if there was anything else, and they were all in perfect condition. Obviously you get c**ts everywhere in life, but don't overlook the classifieds here - there are still honest and moral people here who will do decent business.
  16. This part easily adds about R10k to the price: "This bike has always rolled well and pulls away from its peers."
  17. I believe this to be the biggest problem. The prices of new bikes is a literal joke, yet idiots pay it. Come selling time they might either realise they have been duped, or they actually still believe the R50k they spend on an alu hardtail with SLX components and entry level wheels was a good buy. Thus, they try and sell for R45k "as new", but people will offer them R20k, which sounds like (and probably is) the right price.
  18. True, I think this has a lot to do with perceived value of an item. Especially very popular products like XT brakes.
  19. This, completely. People get either sentimental or stingy, and way over value their items. Sell it at a reasonable price, and you should get offers. Easy.
  20. Sorry, I know this has been posted before, but has anyone got the link for the Strava group?
  21. I will respect and even defend every persons right to believe what they want, as long as it does not harm another being. But I will never respect any religion. And I may comment on this forum from that view point, just as you may comment here from your view point.
  22. Than this statement of your makes no sense: "The fact that it is offensive to EVERY Christian to see a mockery of Jesus being made on a public forum is irrelevant, as long as all the non-Christians are okay with it?" If free speech is not being restricted, then yes, making fun of whoever or whatever is irrelevant. Free speech above all else should then prevail.
  23. Do you feel that people on this planet should not have the right to say something that will offend anyone who believes in a specific religion?
  24. Truly inspiring quotes all around, guys. Wie nie waag nie, saag nie.
