  1. www.google.co.za then type search for tapiirik. Or just highlight the word and right click search google. Or read the thread where a detailed description of syncing workouts has been covered a few times since way back in December. https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1
  2. That's bad luck. My deemed max is 45 beats lower than actual. So 80% for disco is mid 60's. No wonder I don't mind.
  3. It's really hard to read the moral indignation in this thread and not smile to oneself. Whoever thought the point allocation would not change is perhaps not very bright. And if you based a decision to buy a R5,000 watch on the perception that a two hour ride once a week was going to be all you had to do ad infinitum, well the less said the better. As for suggestions about tiers and rest weeks, this in not the schoolyard guys. For a system to be effective for the sponsor and the user it has to be simple. Audits and checking post event is not practicable. Strava has always been a crap app to analyze workouts and is very inaccurate on a number of fronts. This is still a fantastic deal from Discovery and I have no issues with the changes to points. As I wrote previously I used to get 100 points, I can now get 1,500 a ride and, if I'm feeling really hard, even 3,000. But I guess I'm different in that I wouldn't own an Apple product even it came with a free bike.
  4. I took out Discovery medical aid and then life insurance because the premium benefit ratio made sense. Not because of Vitality. Up until 4 months ago and for approximately 10 years I received either 100 points for any ride over 30 minutes and 150 points for a ride over 45 minutes at 70% plus. Subject to a maximum of 15,000 points per annum. A race got me 5,000 if listed, subject to a different maximum of 15,000 points per annum. I could only use a Polar watch for many years. Getting my exercise points to max out took about 9 months, getting to Gold 90,000 points about 6 months. A mate swiping their card at Virgin got 100 or 150 points. Workout or not. I never got a free hot chocolate. Not even once. When this Active Rewards launched my first target was 1,100 points and I got a free drink 3 out of 4 weeks at the old rewards rate. Pre 3,000 points for a coffee cruise. Now I get a max of 30,000 points for exercise per annum, I don't have to do stupid assessments solely for points and I get 2 free coffees a week. My target is 1,200. To stay in peak condition I do some sweating 6 days a week. But even 2 fairly decent rides get me 600 points a ride. Will I extend a current ride to get to the next points level? Hell yes. Will more points today stop me riding tomorrow? No. I don't do it for the points. What have I got to complain about? There is a simple rule in tax law: a transaction must make economic sense, it can't be just for the tax benefits. Same thing applies to free Apple watches.
  5. It works or it doesn't work. Vitality doesn't give a $h!t either way. My Active rewards works 100%, my partner's does not work at all if workout recorded on the Strava app. But does work if workout recorded on Garmin device. Frustrating and not worth my time to try sort out at a cup of coffee a week.
  6. The latest version 4.10.1 of Strava from Feb 1 has fixed my issue. Does the Garmin optical sensor transmit a BLE HR?
  7. I find it amazing that they over pay for content and piss money against the wall on almost every sporting event they cover and then put out this PR about how much they spend on content. R6 billion on the EPL? Who else was bidding?
  8. Is Unotelly working properly with netflix to pick up the US feed? I tried it before netflix "shut it down" then after that announcement I battled to connect.
  9. The tyres photographed are Schwalbe Ultremo. I have these in tubeless but am looking for Pro One tubeless, where did you get yours?
  10. Known issue in Strava app is finding a BLE heart rate transmission, ANT+ seems to work flawlessly if phone is ANT+ or a dongle is attached. Cadence seems OK but not HR. There are optical HR sensors that have dual transmission in ANT+ and BLE, LifeBeam does this. I have a BLE phone and Garmin on ANT+ connected simultaneously.
  11. Don't count your coffees before they hatch. Vida is not appearing as a reward in the app today and the store I visited has a sign up that says we cannot accept Discovery vouchers as they (Disco) are having a problem with their systems which are off-line. Best you go for a Kauai.
  12. I agree that they must deliver what they said they would. The crediting of points for some activities has been a 'mare.
  13. IMO they stuffed up with offering 3,000 points per ride. Pulling it back makes sense and it's easy to force HR data as realistically partners join to sell kit. No point moaning about it as the targets of 30,000 per year and 1,200 per week are still very easy based on the minimum effort ride of 600 points for an hour on the bike. Are you riding to get a free coffee or are you riding because there is no better way to spend a few hours?
  14. I gad a new one. Slow 3H30 ride with mates, ave of 107 beats per minute. Allocated 1,500 points rather than 3,000 as "intermediate"device activity. Seems the rewards system crashes every Saturday when people want to enjoy their hard earned smoothie/coffee. 2 rewards showing Friday, none showing Saturday. A quick twitter search reveals I'm not alone. Maybe the watch is less hassle, even though I already have a smart watch that is more than good enough for me.
  15. All athletes in the testing pool, no matter what sport, are obliged to use the whereabouts system so the testers know where they are at all times. Rasmussen got kicked off the tour while in yellow as he had lied about his whereabouts is the lead up to the tour. So technically they are still available for testing. But I doubt SAIDS, CSA or UCI actually bother.
  16. Yeah right? He still claims he only doped once and got caught. Kept schtum in terms of the omerta. What exactly is he giving back? I only see a massive douche bag getting rich out of the sport and still denying doping is an issue. He is "shocked" every time a positive pops up. But the brits love him.
  17. SAIDS digging deeper must really be a petrifying experience filling every athlete with absolute fear. NOT. Just look at the pharmacist excuse used previously to squash a positive test bought hook line and sinker by SAIDS.
  18. See post above. And in other news the Easter bunny will drop off chocolate eggs in your garden on March 27th,
  19. Maybe a picture will help. With DNS changed: On device with bog standard DNS set automatically: As you can see no extra subscription needed if DNS set to SA.
  20. Interesting, well to me anyway, discovery. I changed TV and a PC DNS to Unotelly to access US Netflix. No problems, lots of new content not on SA side. But certain movies are now DVD at extra $7.99 a month but are still free if DNS just the bog standard allocated on my router by telkom as used by some PC and the kids tablets.
  21. No need to export, just read one post up or 3 posts down #1514. It's an amazing utility.
  22. Yes, I crated an account at connect.garmin.com a few days ago for my daughter. No device and I use https://tapiriik.com/ to sync from Strava. She's getting activity points after the syncing.
  23. Old management consulting saying: Are you too busy doing stuff that is urgent but not important to do the stuff that is important but not urgent? Life insurance is one of the latter in a lot of cases.
