  1. Sorry about that. My shorts are clean after the 3rd wash....
  2. Underrated place to save weight, considering they spin round 18,000 times on average in a 4 hour ride. Think of all that energy you save not pushing an extra 2,000 kg per leg per 4 hour ride.
  3. The only time a bottle will out of this is when you crash. Movement on your MTB is almost all up and down, not sideways, so the force of the bottle is up into the over arm that keeps the bottle in place. I haven't had one user tell me they've lost a bottle on the sideloader, despite the promise of a replacement camelbak bottle if they did. This offer was futile as all I did was overstock on bottles that were never needed.....

  5. Or buy a side loader from me for R195. Perfect for tight spaces.
  6. Built myself something new....an amazing ride. And it stops.
  7. Full moon ride of the Two Oceans route, completed in time to watch the start of the main race.
  8. moer? http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/data/500/numberpl.jpg
  9. The club that was Club100 has now become Team Vitality, a sort of friendly corporate takeover if you will.
  10. Possible to get bored of riding this route? Today on my new build with all new tech. Just the shoes, saddle and the legs are a carry over. Tried to load Panoramic view of whole bay but too big. Like my belly at the moment,
  11. VAT and duty if applicable will be recovered in 1 of 2 ways: On the initial purchase at source as with Amazon on all purchases and something that local distributors have pushed for through SARS. I think SARS have invoked this for on-line purchases where the vendor has registered with SARS.Courier clearing where courier will send you a bill payable before they clear your stuff. This is an extra charge not in the shipping fee charged by the vendor.
  12. Back at the start of the Cape Epic brought to you by adidas we knew we were in for a tough day when we saw Land Cruisers being deployed on the slopes. Everyone was a lot more relaxed when it was a Landy. One joker in this Cruiser even had a "Land Rover recovery vehicle", so popular on the platteland, sticker on the back door. Ah, the good old days before gps, segments, and 29ers.
  13. That was mentioned by the authorities as a reason not to have cyclists on Chappies at all. As a cycling community we need to take the lead and eradicate riders who hold us back by flouting the rules and respect for access. Chappies and Tokai, until reopened, will be added to the Rouge Rider programme http://www.amarider.co.za/Amarider/siteContent.php?cid=194. Only the saddest and loneliest of riders are not known by someone who rides, as a community we can police ourselves to discourage those who give the "up yours" and threaten all our access.
  14. I cannot agree with you. What is good news is that, through consultation and compromise, we were able to keep the most used side of Chappies open. Not an ideal situation but at least riders can still get close to a 50 km ride from Beach Road. But it affects those wanting to do a loop. My self included and Constantia Nek from Hout Bay is probably the least attractive ride I can imagine. The damage on the south side is a lot worse than on the north side and the safety issue is compounded by the difference in the engineering on the 2 sides. The area before and after the half tunnel is very difficult to retain and has lost all vegetation. There is nothing to stop rocks reaching the road once they start moving. As you say it's not good news that we can use the north side, what would you rather have? The complete closure of Chappies to cyclists, walkers and runners as recommended by the engineers? As has happened at Tokai and will soon be followed at Jonkershoek and other fire ravaged areas.
  15. The sensor is flush with the padding and is mounted on foam so would move the same way as the foam padding would in the event of a smash. I find it really good, picks up heart rate quicker than a strap does, no need to wet the strap and works on bluetooth 4 to strava on my blackberry and ant+ on my Garmin. Just one less thing to hassle about before a ride as I always have my helmet with me. Only drawback is that my pink helmet is being retired.
  16. I bought it from the US (http://www.life-beam.com/product/lifebeam-smart-helmet/), used a voucher for $189 incl courier, R576 duty, VAT and local courier ransom.
  17. I got the helmet, no need for a HRM belt around the chest now. Lazer helmet with LifeBeam heart sensor and brain, utilising BT4 and ANT+ The heart sensor in the front of the helmet
  18. 5 gold medals at the SA Champs last year, including 1 that was upgraded due to a cheating doper beating him in one race, costing him the top step for the medal award. Thanks for the support, it's nice to see proper riders wear the same message us hackers wear.
  19. rolling road closure from google search Apparently one can race for years and still not be familiar with common terms used in the sport:
  20. Aside from the attack, it really is an awesome experience riding in a bunch with 4 cops keeping everyone off the road just for the cyclist. Phil Liggett, Gugu Zulu, Liezel vd Westhuizen and Kevin McCullum but a few of the names in attendance. Overall the response to the new #staywider campaign has been very positive, the Expo feedback was great and we will persist in making roads safer for cyclists.
  21. Interesting choice of picture. This was on Friday during a closed, by invitation ride, for media with 4 police escorts and rolling road closures...all approved in terms of an application process through the appropriate civic authorities.

  23. Can I ask a valid question in order to establish your credibility in criticising "the major cycling bodies make money for doing very little"? What exactly do you do for your fellow cyclists? A detailed list would be appreciated.
