  1. Oh FFS..we have Phil & Paul on DSTV..may as well just stream it[emoji35]

That is a real piss on your battery type scenario. Look forward to the race for weeks and then get PnP.

    That's why I stream.

But I may switch over when they hit Arenberg so I can hear the Jean Stablinski story for the nine hundred and thirty…nine…nine hundred and thirty nine million, three thousand and sixty thousand…close to a billionth time.

  2. You guys and girls know how to build up a race! Super excited [emoji108]

Just one problem, I have a first date at 1 and now not too sure what to do [emoji23]

    How hot is she?

I don't think Michelle Pfeiffer would be enough reason for me to leave home today between 11 and 5ish.

Then again you could have a "full service" Paris Roubaix if she really likes you.

  3. Fcuking DSTV are useless lying scum.

    Whole race live is BS.

Broadcast starts at 11:15. Race starts at 11:10. Start delayed slightly to avoid crossing lines when TGV passing as they expect a quick one.

    Thank goodness for streams.

  4. I said in this case not Sky. In fact if one of their personality-less automatons repeats a sprint win like Kwiat did at MSR I'm not sure how I'd feel.  I guess 2nd is better than 1st.

What if it is a complete disaster and G wins the sprint? That would destroy the previous 6 hours of semi eroticism.

Better find my happy pills and start dosing up.

  5. It's a pity the Spring Classic thread has become a love in for Peter Sagan.

13 photos/videos in past 3 pages. Come on guys, there are 200 pros racing the race on Sunday.

ABS on Sunday for me. And that used to be reserved for exclusively for Sky.

  6. Interesting fact about the Forest of Arenberg:

The green grass and moss that grows between each cobblestone is burnt away before the race

Another interesting fact is that despite what Paul Sherwin says EVERY PR when the riders enter Arenberg, Jean Stablinski actually NEVER raced on the cobble sector through the Forest of Arenberg. He introduced it to the race director and as a result his statue is erected near the sector.

  7. if you have DSTV can you not use your code to stream for free from DSTV ... ?

Can't recall the details, but I know it is something along those lines

Yes, DSTV comes with up to 4 devices in use simultaneously. SO get you auntie or granny's account details.

It's just a pity Mobdro doesn't stream HD.

  8. Kirby is far too full of himself, I did enjoy him in the pre Sky days but he's gone rogue the last few years. And the chuckling at his own jokes is just awful.  And the hero worship. Liggett fell into that with LA and Kirby has become a fawning adolescent to Sky and Sagan.

Kelly is worth having Kirby though. Just. At least his call of the sprints is still good.

The kids often ask why I'm watching in Dutch, French or Italian when English is available. It can be that irritating.

Probably the best tweet from RVV was after Gilbert won:

  9. Flip I hope not I hope we get Sean Kelly and not Phil and Co on Sunday..it has been so nice without them.

King Kelly generally comes with Carlton "Gee" Kirby but even with him it's still the best expert to listen to. Brian Smith is not bad as an expert, Rob Hatch calls it well, Magnus says um and Gee too much, the GCN crew are just awful, worse then PnP.  Matt Keenan has a great voice for newspaper.

Dave Harmon is missed. Cycling really has a dearth of good commentators once you've watched a few races.

Kelly, Roche and Harmon was standard on Eurosport years ago. Kirby and Harmon were interchangeable while David Duffield was the Daddy of the lot.

Eurosport on the streams or the Amazon fire tv is the place to be.

  10. PR is basically the most unpredictable race there is. It is going to be damned interesting to see what happens on the day!

Sent from my SM-J200H using Tapatalk

The lead into, and the pressure in all the cobbled sectors is going to be huge. Like the old EPO fired days chasing through Bourg d'Oisans to get to the Alpe in the front.

The only respite in the whole race is when Paul mentions Jean Stablinski during the Forest of Arenburg sector.

Are the 2 senile old goats still calling the races?

  11. After the blame game from Sunday I am now a confirmed, dyed in the wool ABS fan. What a cry baby some of his fans are.

All the if only tweets and justifications for him trying to pull a Vittorio Brumotti on top of the barriers.

If my aunty had balls she'd be Phil Gilbert.

  12. Such a great win hey.

He savoured every moment of crossing the line

    In perfect weather too.

Amazing how sport doesn't play to the agenda. His move was to soften it up for Tom. Tom had a mechanical and PG had the legs to finish it. With the help of the guys who put the barriers out.

  13. Ha ha ha.. you don't like many things or people so it's cool.[emoji6]

The tension that is the spring classics lol

His wheelie at presentation was just a bit much for me. After that I really hoped QS would kick his arse.

There is a bit of fun. And then there is a bit of arrogance. Fine line.

Maybe I'm too fickle and too traditionalist.

This crossing over to cars adds nothing to bike racing. Like focussing on the coach at a rugby match when a try is scored.

  14. I had a bit of a chuckle at Gilbert's walk across the line, very unorthodox in today's peleton, reminded me a bit of "Dancing Dave Wright" who always danced across the line at Comrades, too many modern athletes take themselves too seriously.

I think if he could pull a wheelie he would have done that. I think he wanted to show how much time he had in hand.

  15. Shame speaking of the Bora director apologised for his erm language when Sagan fell[emoji85]

Like a little spoilt brat. This whole incident did them no favours in terms of being likeable.

Jeroen Swart has the answer on what caused wonder boy to fall:
