Seems like you got the pressure right as it is. Its quite the opposite approach to road cycling. With MTB, and more so 29er hard tails, you try and go as low without hurting the rims. It does improve traction and softens the ride more than you would think.
You have so good lightweight tyres... Maxxis Ikon with side protection ? Tyre pressure is one of those grey areas where you have to experiment. In my opinion your tyre pressure should be fine. I would take the 2.5 and 2 as close to the upper limit however but all depends on terrain. If you can down on the rear to 2-2.2 without hurting the rim then do so.

I sat at the finish for a while and in that time maybe 10% of the finishers still had numbers on their backs. Also to do with the type of fabric I suppose.
