  1. Hmmm, not sure its the fuel pump Felty, we have a diesel fill station on site and the oil company checks the pump readings and calibration at least four times a year. Although its very possible the calibration can go out, I think your can is bigger than the stamped reading (5lit).

I agree with Dp Cpd, if someone complains of shortness of breath at a medical tent, theres a reason - dont make condesending remarks idrive - even if you think they can continue your response should be, "I suggest you stop and have it checked".!
  4. Speaking of chips, I see mine has fallen out of my transponder case and gone "walkabout". Frankly I couldnt care, I only use it once or twice a year, but I wondered if this was a common thing.?
  5. Why dos it sicken you, cos (a) you havent got one,(b) you are jelous, © that little green eyed monster on your shoulder.? Get over it, if you have a Ferrari do you have to drive at 300 kmph, if you have a Ocean going Yacht do you have to cross the Atlantic, maybe they like the paint job, where dos it say you have to be a swollen headed wannabee to have an expensive bicycle.?
  6. Hmmm. I feel pretty much the same widget, also not easy for me to make it during office hours as I spend a lot of time on the road seeing customers as far away as Harrismith this week. I also had to brave the morning shopper traffic at Sandton this morning before dashing off to a Kids party at midday with my daughter. I hate crowds so I squeezed in and escaped out as quickly as possible, didnt stop, look, feel, watch, nothing.! In my opinion Kyalami was a much better venue, and Yes, I also agree stay open till 20.00 hours in the evening, give us people who cant just disappear during the day an opportunity to get there in the evening when we are a bit more relaxed and not rushed.
  7. I hope its true and I wish him "Bon Voyage" - as far as I am concerned he did nothing of note anyway.
  8. Dont know about the site, but I find the best method to check on the weather is "to look out my window". 100% accurate every time.
  9. What nonsense. So you have never gone into a shop and said "sorry too expensive"? - how dos the shop assistant respond. Maybe you lost him 5 sales. Whats the point of a board if not too advise and prompt publicly - if its too expensive, worn out, old or simply outdated its my opinion a prospective buyer should know about it. Its amazing how "self interest" works, I would suggest that you would like to know if something was too expensive or in some way defective if you were the buyer would you not - why is it differant when you are the seller.? Anyway, the point of ANY board is to make information available, and that means the good and the bad, its up to the reader to decide if its relevant to them or not.
  10. I think expos are a waste of time, nothing more than glorified flea markets peddeling tubes and energy drinks at higher than usual prices to unsuspecting customers. I have never seen anything at an expo I cant see in the local shop or Dischem - I hate the crowds pushing me around and I get out as quickly as possible, last year was my record, collected my number and walked straight out not stopping anywhere, 5 minutes max, this year I am gonna try and escape out through the entrance avoiding the tedious walk through the stalls.
  11. I dont watch SC that much so I didnt see it, but surely removing those "lawyers lips" could be dangerous, I mean I tend to believe, rightly or wrongly, manufacturers do a lot more testing and R&D than us mortals, and if they felt there was a need for it, we should just leave alone.? Now lets step back and "assume" this fella did remove those tags, he would have no legal case, and would be sitting in a wheel chair relient on his mother for the rest of his life, - not a pleasant thought.! The fact that he "didnt" modify anything means that (in his opinion anyway) somewhere there is a latent defect, he suffered because of its effect and he can sue for compensation. Personally I hope he wins.
  12. sure. design defect causes injury. sue. succeed. i agree. wheel pops pops out because of (most common) placement of disc brake? Not quite sure what you mean HR? I just guess he needs a "position" to argue from, but if you think about it, I guess its possible, the downward force of the disc brake under heavy and constant braking coupled with the " upward return" of the shock could quite possibly allow the wheel to pop out.? I dont know, but its interesting.! I think a similar case to this was also tried many years ago with SCHWINN in the USA, SCHWINN lost the case if my memory is good, because they had not put in the hand book a clause which stated the QR had to be tightened sufficiently to "cause an indentation the palm of your hand on closing" or something similar. Sure, it was a technicality and would probably only succeed in the USA, but unless somebody tests the case, who will know? Fox could very possibly find themselves wanting on a technicality here as well ? porky2008-10-30 14:13:55
  13. If memory serves me correctly, I do believe both the Argus and 94.7 organisers have publicly said they DO NOT CONDONE THE SELLING OF ENTRIES AT A PROFIT and that they appealed to the public NOT to do so. Report the person to the race organisers perhaps they will refuse the entry substitution which will force the seller to refund the "profit". Race organisers can charge for their labour for late entries, substitutions etc, its not the same thing Rude, and as Goofs said, where do you stop, next we will have syndicates buying up thousands of entries on the first day and reselling three weeks later at a "profit". Dont let this rest, Report it to the organisers, if they do nothing, well, too bad, but I have a sneaky feeling they will.! porky2008-10-30 14:00:29
  14. It should be an interesting case, unfortunately its in the UK, where, like SA, personal pain and suffering have little value as far as the courts are concerned. I feel if the case were tried in the USA, he would have a good chance of succeeding and possibly a substantial compensation. If the wheel popped out as he suggests, and he is now confined to a wheelchair, then he has a good reason to feel somewhat aggrieved and seek compensation, I know I would do likewise.!
  15. Heres my view. 1)Cut the freebies, people only use it because its free, and go back to what they were using initially and paid for, next time they need a gel.Unless you are a multinational and can reach millions of people in one swoop, DONT give your product away. 2)Cut the size of your sachet and its relevant price (or market two sizes) - most users of an energy gel are just recreational athletes, for them price is key, they are not interested in the specifics, if they see one gel for R7.00 and another for R12.00 - they will generally pick up the 7 buck item, few of them will read the label. 3)Unfortunately in SA we still have the "imported is better" mentality, a local product has to be priced right, even if its better it wont be competitive until its percieved as "value for money".! 4)Availability is key, as someone mentioned Wasp is not that easily available - increase distribution. 5)I am also not sure of the advantage of sponsoring a pro athlete, generally it can be looked at a a walking advert but personally if you ask me who sponsors which pro athlete, I couldnt say, and I will bet 80% of people wouldnt remember either. Rather use that money for regular branding excercises at events or in magazines. porky2008-10-30 00:22:12
  16. Maybe a few badly managed operations will go to the wall, but that would probably have happened anyway. In my opinion the credit crunch is only in a lot of peoples minds, fuelled by a media who are mind bent on publishing the worst possible news available. But, anyway, high end items and specialist markets are not usually so exposed to this kind of issue, people who can afford to buy a R10 OR R20 K (for example) bicycle are not too concerned about the credit crunch. Warren Buffet once said, "People who want to play golf usually know how much it costs and are prepared to spend the money. For these people supporting a high ticket item will not mean the cost impacts on the dinner table". As we see now, the pain is felt in markets heavily relient on credit like cars and houses, but even here Ferrari and Porche will come out stronger than ever, their client is not effected by the credit issue, unlike producers who targeted low income markets and have been hugely effected.
  17. I spin all over the place, Fourways, Broadacres, Meyersdal, Sunninghill, wherever I happen to be that day. Sometimes I am a bit late or need to leave a bit early, I have other things to do and time schedules to keep. This is not the army, most of us spin because we are looking for a bit of entertainment other than watching boxing on the flat screen while we pedal away on a stationary bike. Actually, most of the instructors I see couldnt care less if you arrived late left early, or just did your own thing, which is, in my opinion, the way it should be, they are not there to be policemen. Quite frankly if an instructor shouted at me for whatever reason I would take exception, and either complain to management or tell them to take a hike.! Been badly paid is no reason to do a bad job, or have a bad attitude, if you feel your abilities are been taken advantage of, look elsewhere for a postion, your issues over pay are not my concern. As for a safety issue, well thats just ridiculous, since when dos any VA worry about you pulling a muscle, if they did they would be telling 90% of the membership to get off the treadmills and bicycles and have a permanent spotter to prevent any 58kg weakling from having a 60kg barbell landing on his chest doing bench press.
  18. It really dosnt matter who provoked who.! The fact remains three cyclists behaved as if it was their RIGHT to teach someone a lesson. Point 1) Its not their right, report it to the police if you feel so strongly. Point 2) Its not up to you as a cyclist (or a motorist) to act as judge and executioner, call the police and make a case. Now lets not get into the whole "the police wont do anything" thats not the point, its not your right to take the law into your own hands either. porky2008-10-20 09:46:49
  19. Yeah, cant agree more, I read that "rest" is directly related to athletic performance, .................so for the last two years I have been "resting" myself into shape.!
  20. A bonk is never beneficial, you just ran out of fuel and your body shut down. Bonking dosnt have as much to do with under training, as with fuelling your system for the entire length of the event, once you bonk, thats it, its very hard to catch up again even if you load up with Gu and energy drinks afterwards. Dos it toughen you up - NO Can it be beneficial - NO Is it bad for training - maybe in the sense it may take you a bit longer to recover than normal in the short term - a dat or two, but it wont do your long term goal any harm. I bonked badly at Two oceans a few years ago, ended up walking and sitting and walking the last 10 kms,it was hell, took me a week to feel better again. I feel for you, its awefull. porky2008-10-18 07:49:59
