  1. 70000 km is nothing for the hardcore long distance mountain bikers. Just a few 6 hour rides on weekends and ur there sooner than what you think.
  2. If I had the cash,...I would buy the specialized carbon shoes and ride the Giant ) If I won the lotto I would spend the 50k and buy the best trek.
  3. tuck and roll .) I never remember it tho, 4 broken arms sigh
  4. Why do the guys where those Marry Poppins high socks? haha it looks ridiculous
  5. I rode 10000km with my first HG then slapped a new 1 on and after 1000km its ruined.
  6. just check the reviews on mtbr, I know a few mtb'rs over 120kg! and they all ride mavic wheels, complete wheel sets not sure the model but Mavic is the brand to go for, ull be spending probably anywhere from 2k-10k depending on model. I wouldnt have any wheels built up I would buy a complete factory wheel set from Mavic..thats my 2 cents.
  7. Guy I know did 70 000 km on a pair and they still ran after that, good stuff!
  8. Mavic no question! Anything mavic ! mmmm Campag bearings do last just as long tho! 150 000 km, ive tested them both. Shimano....half the k's
  9. Why is trackriding and Killarney on the same day? I had to make a choice, I chose track.
  10. That bike's so fast you can freewheel downhill 90km/h yeowwhhhh FAST x 100
  11. That's a 54 the "perfect size for a 1.8 ter!"

    BBB's quality

Yip that's what im worried about, their "other" stuff's quality is a bit dodgy, but I think I'm going to give their cassettes a try, I cant get any 12-25's in Campy only ones available in the Cape, 13 26 and 12 23 and 700 rand a pop.
  13. Phew, Giant / Scott, but I think Scott wins. If you want to keep the bike for longer than 10 years, go Cannondale or anything titanium for the frame. If you live in Cape town go to CWC cycles and get a 3 year old 9 speed Campy bike(still new), should last you a good 150 000 km's
  14. I'm looking for a new cassette for a 9 speed Campy bike, does anyone ride the BBB replica's and how does their quality compare with Campy Veloce?
  15. Sport is only dirty when there is more than a "little" money involved.
  16. They should give good service seeing that they are the most expensive shop around... mmm....
  17. I hope they change owners, R700 for a Veloce 9 speed cluster ...too much!
  18. Specialized, super strong and lasts a lot longer than the other cheaper brands of shoes. I second most of the previous posts.Mtb shoes are heavier than road shoes but not by much. JPW#2009-01-13 05:21:38
  19. Sigma sport bc 1200, cheap and strong as mother Russia. ) price varies at dif shops, R150 -280 for the same thing.
  20. I think I want to hear what JB has to say, I better go get my brothers engineering textbooks to look up the "big words" ) rear wheel traction must be less with a sus seatpost vs a full sus frame, just thought about that too. mmmm
  21. But so does a full sus frame I guess, think about it...up and down up and down )
  22. My question is for the hubbers who ride suspention seatposts,or those who hated riding them, why should I consider buying one and why should'nt I.
  23. Ok so the general feel of the hubbers are that Ti gives a "softer feel" to their ride, that's basically all I wanted to hear, thanks hubbers.
  24. 1 real advantage of Ti is, you wont get cracks and dings in your frame so easily when the rocks hit, thus, I'm busy saving hehe JPW#2009-01-10 01:25:04
  25. I'm sure there must be hubbers riding Ti frames
