  1. Not nearly as slow rolling as a flat with a torn sidewall.
  2. Where is it going? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWtCittJyr0
  3. Only if you are a non-member.
  4. Will have to be done in Cognito.
  5. Maybe we should arrange a NCA (Non Clubbers Anonymous) meeting. Not to be confused with an AA meeting. Bring beer.
  6. Only if you have a nom(n) de plume
  7. Blooming hell. You okes stay in crappy place. Condolences. 2 weeks ago I had a flat tire. In in the process of putting in my SPARE TUBE, I broke off the tip of the fiddly presta valve. In the next 2 km's of walking, 2 cyclists stopped and asked if they could help. And 3 cars stopped and asked if they could help. 2 of them were bakkies offering to take me home. (Only one of the cyclists and one motorist knew me.) But I had already summoned the cavalry to come and pick me up (wife) On the Barberton race this weekend I snapped my chain 2km's before the end. Too much hassle to insert a quick link. Easier to run in. Another cyclist stopped and offered to PUSH me in to the end. Now there. Thanks buddy.
  8. Many underestimate the ultra. You first have to be able to do the 75km in 4:30 (the cut off as far as I can remember) before you will be allowed to do the second loop (Same route as the 45km)
  9. On the 75km race: For some or other reason Barberton has something against me. I simply cannot complete the race without some or other failure. One year I cut my front wheel so bad on a rock, it needed a tube. On later inspection I also bent the rim. Had to rebuild the wheel. Another year I bent my derrailleur hanger. Had to finish in 1 gear. Another year Underachiever came to join me on the Barberton race. Falling himself murtu on the steep downhill area (cut out this year). To top it he cut his back tire in one somewhere close to the 14 river crossings. Tube time again. 2014 I really had a nice climb up to Brighton kop. 1:56 where I usually do it in more than 2 hours. Also stayed relatively cramp free. Even the surprise climb about 15km before the end was OK. Had enough power left for the little steep short climbs in and out of the donga 4km's from the end. Only to snap my chain 2km's from the end on one of the little steep ups. So I had to run in pushing my bike. I had a quick link, but it was too much trouble to put it in with only 2 km's left. I will be back next year. Hopefully without some or other breakage. This is truly a very nice race. Really beautiful. Good people. Good waterpoints. It goes beyond me that this is not part of the MTN series any more. Politics...
  10. Is it OK to use Aquafresh on a Colgate toothbrush?
  11. Or will it be the creaky press fit BB club? Or the non cycling glove wearers club? Or the squealing Elixer club? Or what about the bar ends on riser bars club? Or the dirty water bottle club? And a while ago... Is it OK to ride without Oakleys? Is it ok to ride with MTB shoes on a road bike? Is it OK to wear a red helmet with a black bib? Is it OK to not shave your legs? Is it OK to .... And the list goes on People are people. One man's 'pig' is another's bike. What is the use of these rants?
  12. Ride your bike.
  13. Blooming hell That is not good service. That is OVER THE TOP.
  14. Lotsa and lotsa people with inferiority complexes. Trying too feel better about themselves by being internet warriors. Trolling, baiting others to 'catch' them with clever wordplay and half insinuations. Trying to ridicule the other. As if that will increase the length of your totti. Maybe admin should implement a monthly "Tug toner" award that is added to the avatar of multiple offender and not ban him or her.
  15. As Eccentric 1 or under what alias?
  16. Soap and water.
  17. Ha ha. I recently drained the diffs, gearbox and transfer case of my plaasbakkie. I now have 10 litres of 80w90 to use. Luckily I can use this in the chainsaw as well.
  18. Just a bad tire. The reinforcement in the casing broke. I had a Intense system 2 tire that broke like that with a tube. No sealant came close to my tire.
  19. Agreed It is because we the public turned slapgat that crooks are on the rave. There will always be a slapgat who will tell you that you will face murder or assault charges if you hit back.
  20. A big plus for me.. The serviceability. I had a X9 (9spd) that seized up completely during a previous Sabie Experience. Luckily the last day. The fine grit that enters the joints can only be removed if you take it apart. And not expecting a mud bath during the Pioneer trek of 2012, another X9 (10 spd)got really sticky. You can open up a X9 with a Dremel tool by grinding off the riveted part of the pin. But then you have to figure out a way to put it back together. These were 'Type 1' models. I have not taken a 'type 2' apart. The X9 and X0's feel/shift the same when they are new. The X0 shifting just 'feels' new for longer IMO.
  21. They are still going too hit you with VAT though. I recently imported a few thingy's from China. I noted that the rims I wanted looked the same on Hong Fu, XMIplay and Carbonal sites. As far as I can tell, non of these guys manufacture the stuff. They just sell it on the internet. So when you pay, they order it from their supplier. (They call it preparation time...) They keep very little stock. Then they send it off. They rims were cheaper than those advertised by Carbonal, but I had to pay transport. Where you loose on the corners, you gain on the straights. My order took 3 weeks to reach me
  22. Very amusing thread. Why not try 'Mirrikel Megneezium'? http://miraclemagnesiumoil.co.za/ Another prime example of quackery. My grandpa told me had witseerkeel (not confirmed by a doctor) as a kid. They only had 'boererate' on the farm. The other kids were sent out to collect dried doggiedoo on the lawn. But it had to be white hondedr...e. This was powdered and blown into his throat with a strooitjie. He said it cured him. Must have been a desperate situation.
  23. The one sanction looks scratched. Ask yourself if the process of servicing is really worth it. Nothing too loose if you take it apart just to have a look inside though...
  24. Just puncture the bubble with the tip of your pocket knife. Ride it till it fails completely and DON"T over inflate it. 2.0-2.2bar is more than enough.
